Arizona Cardinals Decide to Keep Jacoby Brissett as Starting Quarterback While Kyler Murray Recovers from Injury

The Arizona Cardinals are taking a cautious approach with star quarterback Kyler Murray, keeping him off the field as Jacoby Brissett continues as the team’s starter.

Murray, sidelined by a foot injury, won’t be returning this week, leaving Brissett to lead the offense against NFC West rivals, the Seattle Seahawks.

Brissett Seizes Opportunity With Strong Performance

Brissett has filled in admirably over the past few weeks, most recently guiding the Cardinals to a 27-17 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night.

He threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, showing that the offense can still function at a high level without Murray.

Coach Jonathan Gannon emphasized the decision to prioritize Murray’s health.

“Jacoby will start and Kyler will keep working on his health,” Gannon said.

“I do like what the offense is doing right now. We’ve operated well.”

Cardinals Hope Brissett Keeps Momentum Going

The team, currently 3-5, remains in the hunt for a playoff spot, and Brissett appears to give them the best chance to push forward.

Despite speculation about whether he should remain the starter, Brissett downplayed the question, focusing instead on doing his job.

“The good teams in this league find ways to continue to get better,” he said.

“That is what we are doing at this point in the season, just trying to find ways to get better.

You tweak things, you go back to your drawing board.”

Building Chemistry With the Receivers

Over his three starts, the 32-year-old Brissett has completed 65.2 percent of his passes for 860 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception.

He’s also developing strong connections with Arizona’s top receivers.

Against Dallas, Marvin Harrison Jr. caught a career-high seven passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, highlighting their growing chemistry.

Uncertain Future for Kyler Murray

While Brissett continues to impress, Murray’s long-term role with the Cardinals is in question.

The two-time Pro Bowl quarterback, who hasn’t addressed the media since his injury on October 5, is in the middle of a $230.5 million, five-year contract that runs through 2027, with a team option for 2028.

For now, the Cardinals are betting on Brissett to keep their playoff hopes alive, leaving Murray’s return and future with the franchise uncertain.
