The Liverpool women’s squad faced more challenges this weekend when star forward Mia Enderby was rushed to hospital after a frightening incident during their clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
Fans and teammates alike watched in alarm as Enderby went down in the closing stages of the match at Brisbane Road, home of Leyton Orient.
Scary Moment on the Pitch
With just ten minutes remaining, Enderby went up for a header and appeared to land awkwardly on her neck.
She remained motionless on the turf for around 15 minutes before being carefully stretchered off and taken by ambulance for further medical evaluation.
Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor shared his concern after the match.
“It’s obviously not nice to see her stretchered off. I haven’t had the chance to speak to Mia yet,” he said.
“At one point, I thought she might get back up and continue playing, but with injuries like this, you have to be extremely cautious. The priority is her safety.”
Injury Woes for Liverpool
Enderby’s setback adds to Liverpool’s growing injury list, which already includes Marie Hobinger and Sophie Roman Haug.
The squad’s struggles have been evident in the opening weeks of the Women’s Super League season, with the team yet to claim a win in their first six matches.
Match Recap: Early Lead and Late Heartbreak
Liverpool initially looked set to claim points when Beata Olsson opened the scoring, netting her first goal for the club after capitalizing on a loose ball from Tottenham’s defence.
However, Spurs quickly responded, with Toko Koga slotting home from close range to equalize.
The decisive moment came later as Tottenham captain Bethany England struck with a stunning finish into the top corner, securing all three points for the hosts.
League Standings Reflect Struggles
The loss leaves Liverpool second from bottom in the WSL, continuing a tough start to the season.
Meanwhile, Tottenham moved up to fourth place, just four points behind league leaders Manchester City.
The focus now turns to Enderby’s recovery, with Liverpool and fans hoping for a swift and full return for the forward amid an already difficult campaign.
