The new season may still be weeks away, but Kaizer Chiefs aren’t taking any chances.
While the players are sweating it out in pre-season training, the club’s management is working just as hard off the pitch — hunting for new signings to strengthen the squad.
Six New Signings In, But Still More Needed
Amakhosi have already brought in six fresh faces, but their pre-season opener against a Dutch team, which ended in a 2-1 loss, showed that the squad isn’t quite where it needs to be.
The issues that plagued them last season — particularly in attack and defence — seem to be lingering.
Despite adding two midfielders to the roster, it’s clear that those weren’t the areas in most urgent need of reinforcement.
With Thabo Cele performing confidently in midfield, many feel Chiefs should shift focus to other key positions.
Time Still on Their Side
Thankfully, Kaizer Chiefs still have over a month before kicking off their 2025/26 campaign.
That means there’s time to scout, negotiate, and hopefully sign the right players who can help turn things around this season.
Big Names on the Radar
One standout target is Jaedin Rhodes, a 22-year-old rising star who’s become hot property following Cape Town City’s unexpected relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
He’s already on the radar of both Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, so Chiefs would have to move fast if they want him in their colours.
Another name being linked is Thabo Moloisane, formerly of Stellenbosch FC.
He’s currently a free agent, which makes him an even more appealing option for Amakhosi.
His agent, Karabo Tshabuse, confirmed the end of Moloisane’s chapter with Stellenbosch, noting that while contract talks took place, the two parties just couldn’t agree on terms.
Amakhosi Quietly Saying Goodbye to Some
While new players may be on the way in, others are already heading out.
Reports suggest that midfielder Edson Castillo has parted ways with the club.
Notably, he wasn’t part of the squad that recently travelled to the Netherlands for the pre-season tour — a clear sign his time with Chiefs is over.
Who Should Chiefs Go After Next?
With time on the clock and the transfer window still open, the question now is: who else should Kaizer Chiefs target? Fans are already weighing in, and the club seems open to suggestions.
