In a major statement of faith and loyalty, Devin Booker is staying right where his NBA journey began.
The Phoenix Suns have just locked down their franchise star with a jaw-dropping contract extension that has turned heads across the league.
A Historic Paycheck for the Suns’ Star
Booker, who’s been the face of the Suns for nearly a decade, has reportedly signed a two-year, $145 million extension that will keep him in Phoenix through 2030.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the deal now gives Booker the highest annual extension salary in NBA history.
The new agreement comes on top of the four-year supermax contract he signed back in 2022, worth $222 million.
At just 28 years old, Booker still had three years left on that deal—but the Suns clearly weren’t taking any chances with their cornerstone player.
Strong Season, But No Playoffs
Booker’s individual stats last season were solid.
He averaged 25.6 points, shot 46.1% from the field, and notched a career-high 7.1 assists per game over 75 appearances.
Despite his efforts, the Suns fell short and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2020, prompting front office changes and a sense of urgency heading into the offseason.
Suns Make a Big Move for Durant
Part of that shakeup included a blockbuster trade for none other than Kevin Durant.
In a surprise move, Phoenix acquired the two-time NBA Finals MVP from the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and the No. 10 draft pick.
That high-profile deal not only signaled Phoenix’s commitment to competing immediately, but also likely helped clear cap space to offer Booker the record-setting extension.
Booker’s Loyalty to Phoenix Remains Strong
Booker has always been vocal about his love for Phoenix, and he’s not hiding it now.
In a candid ESPN interview back in March, he shared his passion for the city and his determination to win there:
“I take pride in the community in Phoenix, the people that have supported me since I was 18 when things were ugly.
We just fell short of accomplishing what we want. So I want to do it, and I want to do it here.”
“That’s the responsibility of being a franchise player, and I wear that with honor.
So it might not look the most pretty right now, but we got to get it done and I’m going to do it.”
All Eyes on 2025–26
With Booker locked in and Durant joining the roster, the Suns are signaling that they’re not content with close calls anymore.
They want a championship—and fast. While there’s more roster building to come, one thing is clear: Phoenix is all-in on their star duo.
More updates are expected as the Suns finalize their offseason moves, but for now, fans in the Valley can celebrate knowing their No. 1 guy isn’t going anywhere.
