Deputy Ministers of the Department of Water and Sanitation, Dikeledi Magadzi and David Mahlobo, will hold a Water and Sanitation institutional workshop with various stakeholders from the Water Management Institutions, which include the Catchment Management Agencies (CMAs) and Water User Associations (WUAs).
The workshop is organised following Minister Senzo Mchunu’s Provincial working sessions with stakeholders.
The workshop will provide an opportunity to discuss all issues which emanated from the Ministerial working sessions with stakeholders, and to agree with stakeholders on possible interventions and approaches to be used.
It will also communicate on issues of transformation, regulation, and implementation of water resource management in partnership with stakeholders.
The Department has taken a decision to re-configure water management areas from nine to six, and to also continue with the transformation of Irrigation Boards to Water User Associations.
The transformation will be implemented in a way that will ensure stability and continuity in the delivery of services and the management of water resources to all users.
Transformation also requires a clear and strong synergy between enabling policies and legislation and the institutional mechanisms to effect it.
Date: Friday, 11 February 2022
Time: 09:00 for 14:30
Venue: Birchwood Hotel, Viewpoint Street, Bartlett AH, Boksburg
