If you’re a Costco shopper, it might be time to double-check what’s sitting in your home.
The warehouse retail giant has issued several recall notices lately, alerting members to potential hazards in products ranging from electronics to air conditioners—and even water bottles.
Over the past month, Costco has been actively notifying customers about a series of recalls tied to safety concerns, urging people to stop using specific items immediately.
Power Banks Pose Fire Risk
One of the latest items to raise red flags is the Anker Power Bank, specifically model A1257.
Experts found a serious risk tied to the lithium-ion battery cells, which could pose a fire or overheating hazard.
Although this model is slightly different from the Anker PowerCore A1263 (sold between 2016 and 2022), both have drawn concern.
Costco is advising anyone with either model to stop using them right away, just to be safe.
Mold Warnings in Air Conditioners
Another concern revolves around Danby’s 8k U-Shaped Window Air Conditioner. The issue? Mold.
The slow water drainage in these units could lead to mold growth over time.
But it’s not just Danby. Other affected brands include Midea, Frigidaire, Insignia, Mr. Cool, Comfort Aire, and more.
In particular, six models of Midea’s U-Shape ACs were found to collect water, creating the perfect environment for mold to develop inside the units.
Tire Recalls Signal Trouble on the Road
It’s not just indoor products being recalled. Costco also flagged problems with Michelin Agilis CrossClimate tires (size 185/60R15C).
The issue? These tires didn’t meet endurance standards, and chunks of tread could detach from the tire’s shoulder block, potentially causing blowouts.
Similarly, Bridgestone Blizzak 6 tires (size 235/40R19) are missing a DOT (Department of Transportation) certification seal—a detail that could make them more prone to failure and increase the risk of a crash.
Dumbbell Danger for Home Gym Users
Costco also warned fitness fans about the BowFlex 552 adjustable dumbbells.
The risk? Weight plates may dislodge from the handles while in use. This could cause injury if you’re in the middle of a set and a plate unexpectedly drops.
Members who own these dumbbells should stop using them immediately.
Mineral Water Makes the List Too
Even Topo Chico Mineral Water wasn’t spared. An 18-pack of the mineral water sold in select locations across five U.S. states was included in Costco’s June recall notice.
While the specific issue wasn’t detailed, it was enough for Costco to recommend discontinuing use.
Recalls Are Becoming a Regular Thing
These aren’t isolated incidents. In fact, 2025 has already seen a spike in recalls across various industries.
Costco isn’t alone—over a million vehicles have been recalled so far this year, with Ford recalling more than 534,000 vehicles and Nissan pulling back nearly 480,000 cars in North America.
In the food world, Publix recalled ground beef twice in just one week due to the possibility of foreign materials in the meat.
Meanwhile, Target and Walmart have dealt with vitamin recalls, and a defibrillator line and blueberries from Alma Pak International were also pulled from shelves.
