South African Weather Service predicts cool and cloudy conditions with scattered showers across multiple provinces today

North West: Windy, Warm, and Spotty Showers

In the North West, it’ll be partly cloudy, windy, and warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms, except in the extreme north-east where it should stay dry.

Free State: Windy and Cool With Scattered Showers

Expect partly cloudy skies in the north-west Free State, but mostly cloudy, windy, and cool to cold weather elsewhere.

Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered, mostly avoiding the extreme east.

Northern Cape: Cold and Cloudy With Fog and Showers

Northern Cape’s western parts will be cloudy with some morning fog, while the rest of the province experiences partly cloudy, windy, and cool to cold conditions.

Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers are likely, especially in the south, where it will be very cold.

Coastal winds will be light to moderate in the north-west.

Western Cape: Cool and Cloudy With Showers and Strong Winds

Morning fog will blanket the central Western Cape, followed by cloudy, cool to cold conditions with isolated to scattered showers, especially heavy in the south-west.

The eastern half will also be cloudy and cool, cold in some northern spots, with isolated showers and thunderstorms.

Coastal winds will shift from moderate north-easterly to moderate south-westerly later in the day.

KwaZulu-Natal: Warm in the East, Cool With Showers in the South-West

KwaZulu-Natal will be partly cloudy and cool, with isolated showers and rain in the south-western areas.

The east will be fine and warm. Coastal winds will range from moderate to fresh northerly and north-easterly.

Be aware, the UVB sunburn index is very high.

  • Yellow level 4 warning: Heavy rain could lead to flooding and dangerous conditions in western parts of the Western Cape.

  • Severe thunderstorms with hail, strong winds, and lightning may cause local damage in northern Eastern Cape.
