Halle Berry celebrated her August birthday in style, and her latest social media post proves she’s still at the top of her fitness game.
At 59, the award-winning actress shared a dazzling photo in a metallic-gold bikini, posing against the crystal-clear waters of Bora Bora.
The snap, captioned simply, “This is 59,” quickly went viral, leaving fans in awe of her youthful glow and toned physique.
Complementing her vacation look with a checkered black-and-white headscarf, aviator sunglasses, and layered necklaces, Berry’s effortless style caught the attention of thousands online. Social media quickly erupted with admiration.
One fan joked, “I need your trainer to move in with me,” while another marveled, “The fountain of youth is somewhere near you.”
Strength Training Becomes the Focus
Berry’s enviable figure is no accident—it’s the result of years of dedication to fitness.
In recent years, she has shifted from cardio-heavy routines to strength training, boxing, and bodyweight exercises.
Speaking to author Tamsen Fadal in March, Berry explained that she now prioritizes building muscle as she navigates menopause.
“I never used to lift weights before,” she admitted. “I only did bodyweight exercises and cardio like running and cycling.
Now, I do heavier weights than ever—probably two days a week at least.”
Despite finding it “boring” at times, Berry understands that strength training is crucial for her body at this stage of life.
A Longstanding Partnership With Her Trainer
Berry has worked closely with personal trainer Barry Lee Thomas since 2016, often sharing glimpses of her grueling workouts on social media.
In 2023, she posted a video of a “simple dumbbell workout,” which includes exercises like frog squats, jump rope, V-ups with dumbbell presses, burpees, and jump squats.
According to Thomas, Berry’s dedication sets her apart. “Even if she gets one to two hours of sleep, she’ll get the work done,” he told Us Weekly.
No matter the exercise, Berry’s goal is always to “get a really good sweat,” proving her commitment to both strength and endurance.
Fitness Goals Evolve With Age
Berry has openly shared how her approach to fitness has changed over the years.
In her 20s and 30s, much of her routine focused on appearance, especially during the early stages of her acting career.
But after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in her 20s, she began viewing fitness as a form of self-care rather than simply a tool for looks.
“Fitness became a way to care for my health and my body,” she wrote in Women’s Health, reflecting a mindset shift that has influenced her long-term routines and lifestyle choices.
A Sugar-Free, Keto Lifestyle
Diet is a cornerstone of Berry’s fitness success. She follows a sugar-free diet, declaring, “Sugar is the enemy,” and has embraced a keto approach to help manage her diabetes.
By eliminating processed carbs and sugar like baked goods and white bread, Berry has not only regulated her insulin but also maintained energy levels and a lean physique.
“For more than 15 years, eating this way has helped me manage my diabetes, but it’s also given me a ton of energy and helped me stay in shape,” she explained.
Prioritizing Mental Wellness
Physical fitness is only part of Berry’s wellness routine.
She emphasizes mental health through nearly 20 years of meditation, which she describes as a source of “peace, healing, and solace,” especially in stressful times.
The Catwoman star also turns to acupuncture to help regulate her hormones, which she attributes to perimenopause.
Berry’s holistic approach—combining diet, exercise, and mental wellness—clearly shows that her youthful appearance and vitality are the product of discipline, balance, and decades of self-care.
