Bayern Munich consider signing Marcus Rashford as Manchester United forward remains sidelined in Old Trafford exile

After a rocky spell at Manchester United and a brief revival on loan at Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford is back in the transfer spotlight — but this time, a German giant might be preparing to swoop in.

With his Old Trafford future hanging by a thread, Bayern Munich have reportedly added him to their list of potential summer signings.

A Tough Season Ends in Uncertainty

Rashford, now 27, hasn’t played for Manchester United since December.

After being frozen out by manager Rúben Amorim, he was shipped off to Aston Villa on loan for the second half of the season.

To his credit, Rashford did fairly well at Villa Park — notching four goals and six assists in 17 matches across competitions.

Despite that decent form, Villa decided not to activate the £40 million buy option, sending Rashford back to United in limbo.

Bayern Munich Show Interest in Versatile Forward

According to German outlet Bild, Bayern Munich have now taken a look at Rashford.

While they’ve been active in the market — and even missed out on top target Florian Wirtz, who joined Liverpool for £116 million — Rashford is apparently viewed as a strong candidate thanks to his ability to play both on the wing and centrally.

Under Vincent Kompany’s new leadership, Bayern are eyeing fresh attacking options, and Rashford’s name is reportedly on their expanded shortlist.

Competition for Rashford Is Heating Up

But Bayern aren’t alone. Rashford has been linked with several clubs this summer, including Barcelona — a destination many close to him claim is his “dream move.” Newcastle have also shown interest.

That said, Rashford isn’t exactly Bayern’s top priority.

The club is reportedly pursuing PSG’s Bradley Barcola, Nico Williams from Athletic Club, Rafael Leão from Milan, and Luis Díaz from Liverpool — all of whom are ahead of Rashford in their pecking order.

High Salary Could Scare Off Potential Bidders

There’s another complication: Rashford’s wages.

The forward earns £315,000 per week, and his contract runs until 2028.

Even with United valuing him at around £40 million, that kind of salary is a tough pill for many clubs to swallow — including Bayern.

What Happens if a Transfer Doesn’t Happen?

If no deal is struck soon, Rashford could be in for an uncomfortable return to Carrington.

United’s pre-season training kicks off next Monday, and unless a move materializes before then, he’ll likely have to report back — awkward or not.

Because of varying international commitments, player returns will be staggered, but Rashford may not be able to avoid facing manager Amorim forever.

And given how things ended, that reunion probably won’t be a warm one.

Amorim Made It Clear — Rashford Isn’t Part of His Plans

Rashford’s fall from grace began in December, when Amorim dropped him from the Manchester derby, which United ended up winning 2–1.

From that point on, Rashford didn’t feature again and ultimately left for Villa on the final day of the winter transfer window.

Amorim didn’t mince words back then — he publicly stated that Rashford “has to change” if he wants to return to the squad.

Given those remarks and the situation since, a United comeback feels nearly impossible.

Rashford Opens Up About Leaving His Boyhood Club

Shortly after his exile, Rashford sat down with journalist Henry Winter and made his intentions clear: he’s ready to move on.

With 426 United appearances under his belt and having joined the club at age seven, Rashford insisted his exit wouldn’t come with drama.

“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” he said.
“When I leave, it’s going to be no hard feelings.

No negativity from me about Manchester United.”

Despite the messy circumstances, Rashford also reaffirmed his love for the club, saying, “Yes! 100 per cent,” when asked if he’ll always be a Red at heart.

Will Rashford Get His Fresh Start Abroad?

With Bayern circling and European clubs monitoring the situation, Rashford’s next move is still up in the air.

But one thing is clear — his Manchester United chapter appears all but closed.

Now, it’s just a question of which club gives him the reset he’s been asking for.
