Melbourne GP Dr John Levin Plans to Expand Family with Second Wife After Welcoming Baby Son Gabby in Australia

In an inspiring story that challenges the usual expectations of age, Melbourne GP Dr. John Levin, 93, is considering having more children with his second wife, Dr. Yangying Lu, who is 37.

The couple welcomed their first son, Gabby, in February 2024, and now the couple is exploring the possibility of a sibling for him.

A Love Story Across Generations

Dr. Levin, a specialist in healthy ageing, met Dr. Lu after learning Chinese, and the pair fell in love.

They tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2014.

Dr. Levin’s first wife, Veronica, passed away in 2013 after 57 years of marriage, and one of his three children tragically died at 65. Their union has since blended past and present, bridging decades with mutual love and respect.

Welcoming Baby Gabby Against the Odds

The couple described the birth of Gabby as a life-changing event, achieved through IVF and donor sperm.

Dr. Levin shared with the Herald Sun how incredible it felt to finally hold their son, especially given the challenges of conception at his age.

Despite being 93, he is determined to be actively involved in Gabby’s milestones, from his bar mitzvah to his 21st birthday.

Plans for a Second Child

Even though Gabby is still a baby, the couple has already started discussions about expanding their family.

“We’re thinking of another one, we’d like to have a little girl,” Dr. Levin told Nova 100, signaling his excitement about fatherhood continuing despite his age.

Dr. Lu admitted that the idea of motherhood didn’t cross her mind until the Covid lockdown forced some reflection on life and priorities.

Addressing Public Perceptions

Dr. Lu has openly tackled public skepticism about her marriage to a man more than five decades older.

She dismissed claims of being a “gold-digger,” emphasizing that their relationship began out of love, not financial gain, as Dr. Levin was bankrupt when they met.

She also addressed misconceptions about Gabby’s age and family, noting that strangers often mistake him for Dr. Levin’s grandson or even great-grandson.

Embracing Modern Family Life

Preparing to convert to Judaism, Dr. Lu expressed confidence in her ability to parent alongside Dr. Levin or even independently if needed.

She highlighted the support system surrounding them, including Dr. Levin’s three children from his first marriage and her own maternal family.

Together, this network provides a strong foundation for raising Gabby and any future children.

A Life Committed to Health and Longevity

Dr. Levin has spent nearly 20 years advising patients on healthy ageing and maintains a strict lifestyle himself.

He has used human growth hormone for three decades, avoids alcohol and smoking, eats mostly vegetarian meals, and doesn’t eat before noon.

His dedication to longevity and fitness is mirrored in his energy and enthusiasm for parenting at 93.

Looking Forward

As they continue to explore the possibility of a second child, Dr. Levin and Dr. Lu are proving that love, family, and ambition have no age limits.

With a supportive community and shared vision for the future, baby Gabby may soon have a little sister joining him in the Levin household.
