What should have been a routine arrival turned into a horrifying ordeal for one family at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport.
In a deeply disturbing incident that has stunned the public, a man violently attacked a toddler he had no connection to—leaving the child in a coma.
Shocking Assault at Baggage Claim
The horrifying event unfolded in Terminal C of Sheremetyevo Airport on June 23, 2025.
A 31-year-old man from Belarus, freshly arrived from Cairo, approached a family from Kabul, Afghanistan, near the baggage claim area.
Without warning, he grabbed their two-year-old son and forcefully threw him to the ground.
Eyewitnesses said the man appeared to be acting strangely even before the attack.
Security footage later shared online showed him watching the boy for several seconds before suddenly making his move.
He snatched the child from behind and slammed him violently to the floor.
Authorities Confirm Drug Influence and Detainment
The Russian Investigative Committee later confirmed that the man was under the influence of drugs at the time.
Irina Volk, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, announced via her Telegram channel that the suspect had been detained immediately following the incident.
The Investigative Committee has since launched a criminal investigation, and the man remains in custody as authorities continue their inquiry.
Young Victim Now in Critical Condition
The toddler, whose name has not been made public, suffered catastrophic injuries.
After being knocked unconscious, he was rushed to the Roshal Pediatric Clinical Center in Krasnogorsk for emergency care.
The Moscow Region Health Ministry later confirmed he was diagnosed with a brain contusion and remains in a coma.
Reports also revealed that the child sustained both skull and spinal fractures, alongside a closed head injury—highlighting the sheer violence of the attack.

The boy’s mother, Hajizada Sahar, spoke to Russian media outlet RT in an emotional interview.
She explained that her family had recently fled Iran due to ongoing shelling and violence, and had traveled to Moscow via Afghanistan.
All family members reportedly hold Russian citizenship.
She added that doctors have warned them of the seriousness of their son’s condition.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Hajizada is currently pregnant, compounding the emotional toll of the situation.

Kseniya Mishonova, the children’s ombudsman for the Moscow region, offered an update on the child’s condition.
She stated that although the boy’s brain was not directly damaged, he has suffered multiple skull fractures and remains in a medically induced coma.
