Engelbert Humperdinck makes rare appearance with daughter Louise Dorsey at Los Angeles screening of My Mom Jayne documentary

After keeping a low profile in recent years, music legend Engelbert Humperdinck made a rare red carpet appearance—and he brought along a very special guest: his daughter, Louise Dorsey.

The 89-year-old crooner was spotted in Los Angeles on Monday at the premiere of My Mom Jayne, a new documentary from Law & Order: SVU star-turned-filmmaker Mariska Hargitay.

It was a heartwarming father-daughter moment as the pair posed for photos and mingled with attendees before the screening.

Keeping It Classic on the Red Carpet

Humperdinck—real name Gerry Dorsey—showed up looking dapper in a black suit, crisp white shirt, and a black-and-white striped tie.

He topped off the timeless look with polished black shoes and a black belt.

Louise, his daughter, coordinated with her dad in a stylish black blouse featuring cut-out shoulders and a bold white stripe.

She added a bit of sparkle with silver accessories and kept her phone in hand as they smiled for cameras.

A Legacy of Music and Family

Engelbert first burst onto the music scene in the 1960s, adopting his now-iconic stage name and releasing timeless classics like Release Me and The Last Waltz.

He became a global heartthrob with his signature ballads and velvet voice.

Louise is one of four children Engelbert shared with his late wife, Patricia Healey.

The couple married in 1964 and were together for over five decades until Patricia’s passing in 2021 following her battle with Alzheimer’s.

That Feud with Tom Jones? Still a Thing

Despite the glitz of the red carpet, Engelbert has also been back in the headlines lately—thanks to his long-running feud with fellow British icon Tom Jones.

In a November interview, Engelbert didn’t hold back, referring to Jones as “a pr**k.”

But he was also quick to clarify his stance.

“Whatever he thinks is fine, but I’d never repeat those words to him,” he said, insisting he was raised to stay respectful—even when things get messy.

“If you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

That’s what my father taught me.”

He denied ever criticizing Jones’ singing voice, despite past reports suggesting otherwise.

“No sir, I never said that,” Engelbert explained.

“He’s a great talent.

Always has been.”

Two Legends, One Story

Engelbert and Tom’s careers have always mirrored one another.

Both were guided by manager Gordon Mills, who suggested they change their names to boost their image.

While Gerry Dorsey took on the name of a German composer, Thomas Woodward went with the simple, catchy “Tom Jones.”

Tom may have had the edge with global chart-toppers like It’s Not Unusual and Delilah, but Engelbert carved out his own impressive legacy with hits such as Les Bicyclettes de Belsize and Am I That Easy to Forget?

Both men were also seen as heartthrobs in their heyday, each staying loyal to their wives for decades.

Sadly, both lost their partners in recent years—Linda Trenchard passed away in 2016, and Patricia Healey the year after.

What’s Next for Engelbert?

With his recent red carpet moment and ongoing presence in the public eye, fans may be wondering if Engelbert is planning anything more—another project, a final farewell tour, or perhaps just soaking up more time with family.

Whatever comes next, it’s clear the iconic singer still has that undeniable presence, both in music and in life.
