Senator John Fetterman urges United States to launch military strikes against Iran in defense of Israel during Fox News appearance

As tensions in the Middle East continue to rise, Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is making waves—not just abroad, but within his own party.

While most Democrats are urging caution or calling for restraint, Fetterman is heading in the opposite direction, calling for bold military support for Israel and tougher measures against Iran.

Fetterman Doubles Down on Backing Israel

In a recent interview with Fox News, Fetterman didn’t hold back when it came to expressing his views.

He was crystal clear in his message: the U.S. must do everything it can to stand by Israel in its conflict with Iran.

He accused Iran of harboring terrorists responsible for attacks on Israel and emphasized the importance of holding Tehran accountable.

Fetterman went a step further than most, saying he’s the “only one constantly calling” for America to use advanced military technology like B-2 stealth bombers and massive “bunker buster” bombs to dismantle Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

A Call for Aggressive Military Action

The senator didn’t mince words about what he believes is at stake.

“Taking out Iran at this point is necessary if you ever have a chance to have any real peace in the Middle East,” Fetterman declared.

He suggested using multiple 30,000-pound bunker busters—powerful weapons designed to destroy underground facilities—and continuing to strike until there’s certainty about Iran’s nuclear capabilities being eliminated.

Fetterman insisted that Iran must never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon, painting a bleak picture of what the future could look like if they do.

Democrats Divided Over Foreign Policy Approach

While Fetterman’s stance is uncompromising, it’s also rare—especially among Democrats.

Fox News host Bill Hemmer noted that Fetterman seems to be the lone Democrat pushing for direct U.S. involvement in action against Iran.

And that divide became even clearer when Senator Bernie Sanders posted a scathing critique of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Sanders placed the blame for the latest conflict squarely on Netanyahu’s shoulders, claiming he started the war by assassinating Ali Shamkhani, Iran’s top nuclear negotiator.

According to Sanders, this deliberate move sabotaged ongoing U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations.

“The U.S. must not be dragged into another illegal Netanyahu war—either militarily or financially,” Sanders wrote on X.

Trump Weighs In Ahead of the G7 Summit

As world leaders gathered in Alberta, Canada for the G7 Summit, Donald Trump was asked how closely he was coordinating with Netanyahu.

His answer was brief but supportive: “We’ve always supported Israel,” adding, “Israel is doing very well right now.”

Netanyahu, meanwhile, dropped a major revelation during a Fox News interview over the weekend—claiming Iran was behind assassination attempts on Donald Trump.

Netanyahu Alleges Iran Plotted Against Trump

In an exchange with Fox News host Bret Baier, Netanyahu was asked directly whether he believed Iran tried to kill Trump.

“Through proxies, yes,” Netanyahu said. “They want to kill him. He’s enemy number one. He’s a decisive leader.”

Though the Israeli Prime Minister didn’t specify which attempts he was referring to, the comment added fuel to a narrative that has long circulated in Trump’s orbit.

Trump and Iranian Threats: A History of Escalation

Trump has had a volatile relationship with Iran for years, especially after ordering the drone strike that killed Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani in 2020.

Since then, Trump has reportedly been a high-priority target for Tehran.

According to past reports, the former president faced attempts on his life in both Pennsylvania and Florida during his 2024 campaign.

During that time, Trump publicly asked for more military aircraft and enhanced Secret Service protection.

At one campaign stop, he even declared he would blow Iran “to smithereens” if re-elected and faced further threats.
