TikTok sensation Khaby Lame has voluntarily left the United States following a recent detainment by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The 25-year-old, whose real name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was stopped by ICE officials at Las Vegas’ Harry Reid International Airport on June 6 due to visa-related issues.
According to an official ICE statement, Khaby had entered the U.S. on April 30 but overstayed the terms of his visa.
After being detained, he was granted voluntary departure and has since left the country.
Representatives for Khaby have yet to comment on the situation.
How Khaby’s Journey Led Him to TikTok Stardom
Khaby’s story is nothing short of inspiring. Born in Senegal, he moved to Italy as a one-year-old and became an Italian citizen in 2022.
Before TikTok fame, he worked in a factory until he lost his job in 2020 at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was during this period of uncertainty that Khaby began creating simple, silent comedy videos that quickly took off online.
One of his most famous clips shows him mocking a fellow TikToker who tries to escape a car by cutting through his shirt.
Instead, Khaby calmly opens the car door and gives his signature shrug — a moment that has racked up over 158 million views.
Another viral video features him humorously slicing a pizza by hand rather than using the plastic saver, showcasing his trademark style of understated frustration.
Why Khaby’s Silence Speaks Volumes
Khaby’s unique appeal lies in the fact he rarely speaks in his videos, choosing instead to communicate through universal gestures and expressions.
He told CNN that the silence helps him reach people everywhere, breaking language barriers and connecting with millions globally, especially in places like Brazil and South America.
From Factory Worker to Global Celebrity
Since rising to the top of TikTok’s charts, Khaby’s life has changed dramatically.
Though he admits he’s not yet “set for life,” he’s steadily earning and dreams of buying a home for his mother.
A massive Juventus fan, Khaby openly shares his humble beginnings, crediting public housing for teaching him valuable lessons about education and community.
Now, he’s mingling with A-list celebrities, walking the runway at Milan Fashion Week in 2022, and even attending the glamorous Met Gala last month.
Despite his growing fame, Khaby keeps things grounded, avoiding drama and calling out pointless life hacks with his signature simple humor.

With Khaby now outside the U.S. following his voluntary departure, fans are eager to see what he’ll do next.
His journey from a factory worker to a global influencer is still unfolding, and his ability to keep things simple and relatable continues to win hearts worldwide.
