Wendy’s expands grocery offerings as Double-Smoked Bacon hits shelves at Kroger and King Soopers in Kentucky and Virginia

Wendy’s might be best known for its drive-thru burgers and cheeky social media presence, but now the fast-food favorite is sneaking into grocery aisles—and fans are noticing.

What started with chili cans is now turning into a full-blown expansion of Wendy’s-branded products in major supermarkets.

Spotted in Stores: Double-Smoked Bacon Lands in Kroger and King Soopers

The latest buzz? Wendy’s Double-Smoked Bacon is now popping up in select Kroger and King Soopers stores.

Food blogger Remi4all spotted the product during a trip to a Kroger in Kentucky, and shared the find on Instagram.

Soon after, another user chimed in, saying their Kroger in Virginia had it, too.

Sold at $6.99 per pack, the bacon joins a growing line of Wendy’s-branded grocery items, following the launch of their beef burger patties in Ohio and Colorado stores earlier this year.

Fans Are Already Calling for Nuggets and Fries Next

The online foodie community couldn’t help but get excited.

“First the burgers, now Double-Smoked Bacon! I hope we get the nuggets and fries next,” joked Remi4all and fellow blogger Markie_devo in a playful post.

It seems fans are here for whatever Wendy’s wants to bring to the shelves next.

Though Kroger hasn’t released an official list of participating locations, they’ve hinted that this new bacon drop is part of a wider rollout across several states.

Social Media Can’t Stop Talking About Wendy’s Grocery Expansion

From Instagram reels to TikTok taste tests, Wendy’s bacon has become the latest viral grocery sighting.

But this isn’t their first rodeo. Back in 2023, Wendy’s launched canned chili in collaboration with Conagra, allowing fans to bring their favorite spicy bowl home.

Now, you can find both chili with beans and a no-bean version on Kroger shelves nationwide, priced at $4.99 and $5.49, respectively.

What Else Can You Buy? Wendy’s-Themed Snacks Are Expanding

If you’re looking to fill your pantry with Wendy’s flair, there’s more. Other grocery items include:

  • Kellogg’s Wendy’s Frosty Chocolatey Cereal

  • Pringles Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Potato Chips

These novelty products are part of Wendy’s growing strategy to embed itself in everyday grocery shopping, and clearly, the demand is there.

Meanwhile, Fast Food Wars Heat Up With Summer Deals

While Wendy’s is making moves in supermarkets, it’s not backing down in the fast-food space either.

Starting June 8, they’re launching a “100 Days of Savings” campaign.

Every Saturday through July 26, customers can score a Dave’s Single cheeseburger for just $1 at participating locations.

On top of that, Wendy’s is still serving up its newest summer treats like the Frosty Swirl and Frosty Fusions, both of which rolled out this spring.

Sales Are Down Across the Big Three, But Wendy’s Isn’t Backing Off

Even with all these creative promotions, it’s been a tough start to 2025 for fast food giants.

  • McDonald’s saw a 3.6% drop in U.S. sales—their steepest decline in years.

  • Burger King’s North American sales dipped 1.3%, falling short of Wall Street predictions.

  • Wendy’s wasn’t immune either, with a 1.1% dip, totaling $3.4 billion in global sales.

CEO Says Long-Term Strategy Still on Track

Despite the dip, Wendy’s CEO Kirk Tanner remained optimistic during the company’s earnings call in May. He emphasized that the brand is still delivering on its major goals, which include:

  • Offering fresh, high-quality food

  • Creating an exceptional customer experience

  • Expanding its global restaurant footprint

Tanner also pointed out that Wendy’s added 68 net new restaurants and implemented a new field structure to better support franchisees.

“We remain focused on these strategic priorities,” Tanner said, “which will position Wendy’s to win in the market and drive long-term growth.”
