Explosion Shakes Railway Track in Voronezh Region Causing Train Delays but No Injuries Reported

Early this morning, an unexpected explosion rocked a railway track in Russia’s Voronezh region, causing disruption but thankfully no injuries.

The blast happened around 9:30 a.m. Moscow time on the Yevdakovо-Saguny railway stretch, at the 725th kilometer mark.

Trains Halted as Authorities Respond Quickly

Alexander Gusev, the governor of Voronezh region, quickly informed the public that several trains had to stop due to the damage.

One train driver spotted minor harm to the tracks, which led to the prompt suspension of traffic in that area.

Gusev took to Telegram to assure everyone there were no casualties and that he was personally monitoring the unfolding situation.

Emergency Teams on Site Fixing the Damage

Emergency responders, along with repair crews from the South-Eastern Railway, are actively working to assess and repair the damaged section.

The South-Eastern Railway confirmed that train services through this stretch are temporarily paused, and some passenger trains are experiencing delays.

Explosives Discovered Nearby Heighten Concerns

Things took a more serious turn when a Telegram channel called Shot reported that several improvised explosive devices were found near the blast site.

Bomb disposal units have been dispatched to safely handle these explosives.

Recent Related Incident: Bridge Blast in Bryansk Region

This explosion is not an isolated case. Just a few days ago, on the night of June 1, a bridge in the Bryansk region was destroyed by an explosion, affecting passenger train No. 86 traveling from Klimovo to Moscow.

Luckily, the train driver managed to brake in time, avoiding a major disaster.

Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee, revealed the bomb used in that attack contained foreign-made explosives, adding a layer of complexity to the investigation.

Political Fallout: Putin Calls Attack Terrorism

Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the Bryansk bridge explosion, accusing Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians.

He condemned the act as terrorism according to international law and accused Kyiv of orchestrating such attacks.
