PFR Ventures launches €150 million deep tech fund to back high-potential startups across Poland with global ambitions

Poland is making a bold move to boost its tech scene with a fresh injection of capital aimed at cutting-edge innovation.

The Polish Development Fund’s investment branch, PFR Ventures, just announced the launch of PFR Deep Tech—a new fund-of-funds designed to back breakthrough technologies and dual-use innovations with at least €150 million.

Half the Money Comes from PFR, the Rest from Partners

The cool part? Half of this funding is coming straight from PFR itself, while the other half will be raised from private and institutional investors.

This approach helps pool resources and expertise to create a solid foundation for investing in game-changing tech companies.

Focus on High-Impact Sectors Like AI, Robotics, and Space

PFR Deep Tech isn’t just throwing money around randomly.

The fund specifically targets venture capital managers who have proven success in scaling deep-tech companies.

The sectors they’re focusing on include hot areas like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced materials, robotics, and even space tech.

Plus, they’re looking at dual-use technologies—those that have applications in both civilian and military fields.

Matching Investments to Support Polish Innovation

An important detail is that any fund selected to participate must match PFR’s contribution euro-for-euro.

On top of that, they must invest at least the same amount into companies that have a strong connection to Poland—whether that’s through R&D, operations, or their headquarters.

It’s all about making sure the money helps grow local innovation.

Anchoring Multiple Specialized Funds to Support Up to 80 Companies

PFR Ventures plans to anchor three to five specialized funds as part of this program.

Together, these funds could end up supporting as many as 80 promising tech businesses during the life of the initiative.

To put this in perspective, PFR Ventures already backs over 90 venture capital, private equity, and private credit funds, so this new program builds on a solid existing foundation.

Supporting Poland’s Long-Term Economic Growth

The bigger picture is about driving sustainable economic growth for Poland.

The Polish Development Fund is dedicated to encouraging domestic investment, helping Polish companies expand internationally, and building partnerships with global players.

This new deep-tech fund is another important step toward positioning Poland as a key player in the future of technology.
