Accredited Institutions Announce Minimum Qualifications Required for Engineering and Science Diplomas in Nigeria

If you’re interested in diving into careers like Mechatronics, Packaging, Brewing & Utilities Operations, or Corrective Maintenance, there are some specific qualifications you’ll need to get your foot in the door.

Typically, a Higher National Diploma (HND) is the way to go, and it should be in certain engineering or technical areas.

Recommended Higher National Diplomas for Mechatronics and Maintenance

For roles in Mechatronics and similar operations, you should have an HND in subjects like Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Physics, Instrument Engineering, or Computer Engineering.

Importantly, this qualification should come from a recognized and accredited institution, and you’ll need to have at least a Lower Credit grade to meet the minimum requirements.

What About Qualifications for Quality and Logistics Operations?

If you’re aiming for positions in Quality or Logistics Operations, the focus shifts slightly.

A National Diploma (ND) is usually acceptable, but again, it needs to be in relevant fields such as Chemical Engineering, Biological and Physical Sciences, Food Science Technology, Laboratory Science, or Applied Physics.

Like the HND, your diploma should be from a recognized and accredited institution, and you’ll need at least a Lower Credit grade to qualify.
