Saudi boxing boss Turki Alalshikh reportedly opens talks with Millwall FC over potential investment in South London Championship club

It’s no secret that English football has become a magnet for international investors — and now, another name has entered the conversation: Turki Alalshikh.

Known for his massive influence in the world of boxing, especially with Saudi Arabia’s growing footprint in the sport, Alalshikh seems to be exploring a new kind of challenge: owning a football club in England.

Talks Behind the Scenes?

Sources close to the matter have revealed that Alalshikh, who chairs Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, has had behind-the-scenes talks with Millwall FC, the Championship club that finished eighth this past season.

These conversations, while still largely under the radar, suggest a potential interest in bringing Saudi-backed investment into the South London side.

Alalshikh has been at the forefront of Saudi Arabia’s major sporting investments — particularly in boxing — and now appears eager to branch out into football.

He’s reportedly been approached by several English clubs over recent months.

Millwall Responds

However, Millwall has quickly responded to the speculation.

On Thursday evening, the club released a statement denying any sale discussions or intentions to sell.

According to the club, there’s been no official dialogue with Alalshikh or his team.

Millwall remains under the ownership of Millwall Holdings Limited, with James Berylson continuing in his role as chairman.

He took over after the passing of his father, John Berylson, in a tragic car accident in 2023.

A Bit of Advice from a Familiar Face

Interestingly, former Crystal Palace chairman and Mail Sport columnist Simon Jordan recently shared that Alalshikh had approached him for advice about entering English football.

Jordan suggested he look into purchasing Sheffield Wednesday — another Championship club — which ended the season just a few spots below Millwall.

So, What Happens Now?

Right now, everything remains speculative.

No deals have been confirmed, and Millwall has firmly stated they’re not up for sale.

Still, with Alalshikh’s ambition and resources — and the growing trend of international ownership in the English game — this story might not be over just yet.

Stay tuned.
