As the summer transfer window draws near, some of England’s biggest clubs are gearing up for a potential blockbuster signing.
Rodrygo, the talented Brazilian forward currently at Real Madrid, has attracted serious interest from several Premier League teams, including heavyweights Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool.
Rodrygo Ready to Move On From Real Madrid
Reports suggest that Rodrygo is set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu after growing frustrated with his situation at the club.
The 24-year-old reportedly refused to play in the recent El Clasico against Barcelona, signaling a clear desire to move on.
Since joining Real Madrid in 2019, Rodrygo has seen his spotlight dimmed by star arrivals like Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, and he’s unhappy with the attention those players receive.
With a new chapter unfolding for both Real Madrid and the Brazilian national team—now managed by Carlo Ancelotti—Rodrygo seems keen to follow his manager out of Madrid’s door.
Premier League Clubs Ready to Make Their Move
While Rodrygo turned down a move to Manchester City last year, Pep Guardiola’s side remains interested, alongside at least four other Premier League clubs, according to Diario AS. Real Madrid is said to be open to offers around £84 million (€100 million) for the forward.
Rodrygo has previously expressed admiration for Manchester City, calling them “the best team in the world” and praising their style of play, which might make a move there appealing.
Arsenal’s Urgent Search for Attackers Could Include Rodrygo
Arsenal is also linked with Rodrygo as they desperately need to reinforce their frontline following a season plagued by injuries.
They currently lack a fit, recognized striker—Gabriel Jesus has been out since January with an ACL injury, and Kai Havertz, who remains Arsenal’s top scorer with nine goals this season, has been sidelined since February due to a hamstring injury.
Praise From Across the Pitch
Rodrygo has earned high praise from other professionals, including Newcastle’s Mikel Merino, who has been filling in as an emergency striker this season.
Merino described Rodrygo’s style as “technically exquisite,” highlighting the forward’s versatility and ability to play in multiple attacking roles, both inside and out wide.
Mixed Form Amid Big Expectations
Last season, Rodrygo enjoyed a standout year, scoring 18 goals and providing nine assists as Real Madrid secured the treble.
However, this season has been more challenging.
His goal tally in LaLiga stands at just six, with six assists, and he has found the net only once in his last 22 matches—the last goal coming against Atletico Madrid in March.
Interest Remains Strong From Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea
Besides Manchester City and Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea continue to monitor Rodrygo’s situation closely.
Liverpool recently secured Mohamed Salah on a new contract through 2027, but the futures of other forwards like Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Federico Chiesa remain uncertain.
For United and Chelsea, any new attacking signings will likely depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League next season.
Other Premier League Teams Are Watching Too
Outside of the big names, teams like Tottenham, managed by Ruben Amorim, are also looking to strengthen their attacking options.
They have their sights set on Ipswich’s Liam Delap and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha as possible summer additions.
