In a trial that’s gripped Hollywood and beyond, Cassie Ventura is sharing her truth—and how she began the process of healing.
The R&B singer took the witness stand again in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking case and revealed the steps she took to work through the trauma she says she endured during their long, troubled relationship.
And interestingly, part of her recovery involved a therapy method also used by Prince Harry.
A Stay at Willow House to Rebuild
Cassie testified that in 2023, she checked into Willow House, a mental health treatment facility, for 45 days.
While there, she said she received help for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and her therapy included a mix of cutting-edge techniques—both mental and physical.
Among them? Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a method that’s gotten public support from none other than Prince Harry.
He used it to work through his grief over Princess Diana’s death, and Cassie turned to it to unpack her trauma from her time with Combs.
What EMDR Therapy Actually Does
Explaining EMDR, Cassie told the court that the therapy helped her revisit painful memories safely—such as a time she felt trapped in a room with no escape.
Through the process, she was able to mentally “reimagine” the scene and find a sense of resolution.
But that wasn’t all.
She also tried Somatic Experiencing, a body-focused method aimed at releasing the physical tension stored from trauma.
And she underwent neurofeedback therapy, where brain waves are monitored while patients watch videos designed to help regulate emotional responses.
She estimated she did this therapy around five or six times during her stay—roughly once a week.
Not for Sex Addiction, Says Cassie
During cross-examination, defense attorney Anna Estevao pointed out that the Willow House facility offers treatments for sex addiction, sexual compulsion, and love addiction.
She asked Cassie if any of her therapy was related to those areas.
Cassie firmly said no—her treatment focused entirely on trauma recovery.
A Therapy Also Used by Royals
Prince Harry first shared his own EMDR sessions during Oprah’s 2021 Apple TV+ docuseries The Me You Can’t See.
In one memorable scene, he closed his eyes and tapped his chest during a virtual session with his therapist, as part of his journey in coping with the loss of his mother and his personal struggles.
Since moving to California with Meghan Markle in 2020, Harry has been open about exploring several therapy techniques, including EMDR and guided meditations—similar to those Cassie mentioned in her testimony.
A Trial Full of Explosive Testimony
Cassie is the prosecution’s key witness in this trial, and she’s now faced two days of intense cross-examination.
On the first day, she was even required to read out graphic and explicit texts she had sent to Combs during their relationship, which ended in 2018 after nearly 11 years.
Her 2023 lawsuit—which accused Diddy of repeated sexual and physical abuse—is what originally prompted the federal investigation into the music mogul.
What Prosecutors and Defense Are Saying
Prosecutors claim Combs ran what they describe as an “empire of exploitation,” using his celebrity status to lure and control women for abusive sex parties.
Cassie’s claims, they say, are just the tip of the iceberg—other women are also expected to testify.
Diddy has pleaded not guilty.
His legal team argues that while he might have engaged in intense behavior, none of it crosses the line into sex trafficking or racketeering.
According to them, all parties involved acted consensually.
What’s next in the trial? With more witnesses expected and emotions running high, the courtroom is bracing for what could be one of the most explosive celebrity cases in years.
