Tory Lanez fights for his life after being stabbed 14 times by another inmate in Tehachapi correctional facility in California

It was supposed to be just another Monday morning at a California prison — until news broke that rapper Tory Lanez had been stabbed multiple times behind bars.

The violent attack left fans stunned and his team scrambling to update the public on his condition.

A Shocking Prison Assault Leaves Lanez Fighting for His Life

Early Monday, Lanez — whose real name is Daystar Peterson — was viciously stabbed at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.

According to his representatives, he was attacked a staggering 14 times.

The injuries were severe: seven stab wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head, and one to his face.

The situation quickly turned life-threatening.

His team confirmed that both of his lungs collapsed, and he was put on a breathing machine. Thankfully, he is now breathing on his own.

Lanez’s Team Speaks Out With an Emotional Update

Despite the serious nature of the attack, Lanez’s reps shared some hopeful news on Instagram later that afternoon.

They said he is “talking normally, in good spirits,” and incredibly thankful to still be alive.

“He deeply appreciates everyone’s prayers and support,” they added, emphasizing that the incident could have easily turned fatal.

How the Attack Unfolded Inside the Prison

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed the assault happened at 7:20 a.m. in one of the facility’s housing units.

Prison staff responded immediately, calling 911 and starting emergency care before Lanez was rushed to an outside hospital for treatment.

The Kern County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Inspector General have both launched investigations.

According to TMZ, an ambulance transported Lanez to a civilian hospital in Bakersfield — roughly an hour away — for urgent care.

A Troubled Past Still Haunts the Present

Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

The case, which gained national attention, ended in a conviction in December 2022 for assault with a semi-automatic firearm, having an unregistered and loaded firearm in a vehicle, and discharging it with gross negligence.

The shooting happened after a Hollywood Hills party, with Megan later testifying that Lanez told her to “dance” before shooting at her feet as she exited a vehicle.

She underwent surgery to remove bullet fragments and said she hasn’t felt peace since that traumatic night.

Lanez Once Pleaded for Mercy and Expressed Regret

During his sentencing in August 2023, Lanez told the court he still cared for Megan and regretted what happened.

He asked for a lighter sentence or probation, admitting he made serious mistakes.

“If I could go back and change everything that night, I would,” he told the judge.

“The victim was my friend. I take full responsibility.”

Nonetheless, the judge gave him a decade in prison, citing the seriousness of the crime and the conflicting accounts of Lanez’s character presented during trial.
