Camila Mendes, known for her iconic role in Riverdale, has been spotted filming her first scenes for the live-action remake of Masters of the Universe in London.
The 30-year-old actress looked absolutely stunning as she transformed into Teela, a warrior goddess, in this highly anticipated adaptation of the beloved 1987 film.
A fierce look for the role
Mendes was seen sporting a striking white and gold jumpsuit that clung to her toned figure, paired with high red boots and thick elbow pads.
Her ensemble was designed to capture Teela’s strong and fierce persona, and she absolutely nailed the look.
Camila also embraced a bold new look, trading in her signature dark hair for vibrant red locks, a change she recently teased on her Instagram.
Filming action-packed sequences
Alongside Camila, Nicholas Galitzine, who plays Prince Adam (He-Man), was also on set filming various action-packed scenes.
The two stars were caught filming intense sequences, with Mendes’ character playing the role of Prince Adam’s protector and love interest.
Galitzine, who was dressed in a long blonde wig and a pink shirt paired with dark denim, perfectly embodied the iconic He-Man.
The chemistry between the two was undeniable, and fans are already excited to see them together on screen.
Teela’s role in the upcoming film
Teela’s character has undergone several adaptations over the years.
Originally played by Chelsea Field in the previous live-action film, Teela has been voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar in Netflix’s animated series, and was later replaced by Melissa Benoist.
In the new Masters of the Universe film, Teela is described as the captain of the royal guard and the adopted daughter of Man-at-Arms, the royal family’s weapons inventor.
While Teela has been portrayed as both a love interest and a fierce ally to He-Man in various versions of the story, it’s clear she will play a pivotal role in the upcoming remake.
The cast and what to expect
Directed by Travis Knight, the film is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel and is set to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.
Nicholas Galitzine, known for his role in Purple Hearts, will take on the role of both Prince Adam and He-Man.
Meanwhile, Alison Brie, famous for her role in Get Hard, is slated to play the villain, Evil-Lyn, who serves as second-in-command to Skeletor.
While the casting for Skeletor has yet to be confirmed, Jared Leto is reportedly being considered for the role.
What’s next for Masters of the Universe?
The Masters of the Universe franchise, which began with action figures in 1981, is a cultural phenomenon that spawned an animated series, comic books, video games, and much more.
The original animated series, which aired from 1983 to 1985, introduced audiences to Prince Adam, who would transform into He-Man, the mighty protector of Eternia.
His battles with the villainous Skeletor were central to the show, and these iconic battles are expected to be reimagined in the upcoming live-action film.
A new chapter for a beloved franchise
As production continues, fans are eager to see how closely the live-action remake will stick to the original animated series.
With an exciting cast and a visionary director at the helm, Masters of the Universe promises to be a thrilling new chapter in the saga.
