Alison Hammond has long been a beloved presence on our screens, known for her infectious laugh and sunny outlook.
But behind the scenes, she’s been quietly transforming her health and fitness – and now she’s finally ready to share how she’s doing it, all without relying on trendy weight-loss jabs.
A Turning Point Sparked by Loss
It all started after the heartbreaking loss of her mother, Maria, in January 2020.
Maria had always been concerned about Alison’s health, especially after Alison was diagnosed as pre-diabetic.
That wake-up call made her realize she needed to take her health seriously – not just for herself, but to honour her mum’s memory.
“I just had to be an adult about it,” Alison explained.
“The sweets had to stop, and so did the fatty foods.”
No Quick Fixes, Just Real Effort
Unlike many who turn to injections and medications for weight loss, Alison decided to take a more natural route.
She steered clear of weight-loss jabs because, frankly, they scared her.
“I’ve heard so many scary stories about them,” she said, adding that while they might work for others, she didn’t feel comfortable using them herself — at least not for now.
“I don’t look down on anyone who uses them, but I haven’t wanted to go that route.”
Instead, Alison focused on the basics: movement, moderation, and mindset.
How She’s Working Out on Her Schedule
These days, the This Morning star trains with a personal trainer whenever she can fit it into her packed schedule. “She’s amazing,” Alison said with a smile.
“If I’m working, I might just go for a walk. But when I’m home, I’ll do an hour-long session in the morning, maybe four days a week.”
Her routine isn’t about punishing workouts or strict regimens.
It’s about staying consistent, doing what feels good, and fitting it around her busy life.
“Twice a week with my trainer, a bit of walking, stretching, and even some yoga now and then,” she said.
Embracing Food Without Guilt
Alison’s approach to food is refreshingly honest and balanced.
She doesn’t believe in cutting out entire food groups or depriving herself.
“I eat everything – just in moderation,” she shared. “I don’t deny myself. It’s all about balance.”
That mindset helped her shed an incredible 11 stone, and more importantly, it’s helped her feel in control of her health and happiness.
Remembering Her Mum Through Giving Back
As part of her health journey, Alison recently decided to part ways with her old size 26 clothes – but not just by tossing them out.
She sold them for charity in memory of her late mum. It was a deeply personal and symbolic step in her transformation.
A Journey That’s Honest and Empowering
Alison hasn’t shied away from being honest about her struggles with weight over the years.
She once weighed more than 28 stone and joined Weight Watchers in 2019 to get on the right track.
But even as she continues to work on her health, she says online trolls still try to bring her down.
“I get trolled daily about my size,” she admitted. “But I’m not losing weight for anyone else.
I like taking up a little bit of extra space in the world.”
Living Life to the Fullest, Her Way
Speaking on Lorraine Kelly’s What If? podcast with Rosie Smith, Alison opened up about her new perspective.
She wants to avoid knee pain and eat better, sure – but she’s not obsessing over numbers or expectations.
“We’re all going to die eventually,” she laughed. “So I might as well have a wonderful life while I’m here.”
Hoping to Inspire Others
Through it all, Alison’s biggest goal is to inspire others who might be in a similar place to where she once was.
Her message? You don’t need to change everything overnight. You just need to take that first step toward becoming the healthiest version of yourself.
“I want my journey to empower others,” she said. “You can make changes – and still live your best, fullest life.”
