“Wizkid” is a nickname or stage name for a popular hip-hop musician. Wizkid’s real name goes by Balogun Ibrahim Ayodeji. He was born on the 16th of July 1990 in his parent’s resident at Surulere, Lagos state in Nigeria.
He grew up in a family of two faith with his other twelve female siblings and he is the only son. His mother is said to be a Pentecostal Christian and his father is a Sunni Muslim. This explains his name “Ibrahim” and his collaboration on a few from his first records with his Church friends. It was reported that Wizkid attended Ijebu Ode Grammar School.
It is also said that he loved Fela Kuti’s song, King Sunny Ade’s song, and Bob Marley in his early days and this is because it was his most-heard songs while growing up.
In one of his interviews, Wizkid said he created a music group or band with a few of his church friends called Glorious Five and they managed to release an album together before disbanding. He went on with a stage name “Lil Prinz” till 2006.
Balogun Ibrahim Ayodeji is popularly known as “Wizkid” started a music career at age 15. He is a very hard-working musician and after closing several deals he is said to be one of the richest musicians in Nigeria.
