Longtime NBA coach Gregg Popovich suffers medical emergency and gets rushed to hospital after collapsing at a steakhouse in San Antonio

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich faced a concerning health emergency on Tuesday night while dining at a steakhouse in the city.

The 76-year-old, who has had previous health issues this year, was seen being transported by ambulance after fainting during the incident.

Health Update on Popovich

In troubling footage shared by TMZ, Popovich was seen on a stretcher, alert and speaking as he was loaded into the ambulance.

Despite his stroke last November, which led to an indefinite leave of absence, it appears that he was recovering from the earlier health scare.

According to reports, he had been at the restaurant for about two hours before the incident occurred.

Spurs’ Response and the Coach’s Legacy

Popovich, known for being the NBA’s all-time winningest coach, has not been involved with the team since he announced in February that he would not coach for the remainder of the season.

The Spurs, who have already missed the NBA playoffs this year, have not yet publicly commented on the latest development.

The legendary coach has guided Team USA to an Olympic gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games and is a five-time NBA champion with the Spurs, where he has served as head coach since 1996.

In his absence, assistant coach Mitch Johnson has stepped up to lead the team.

The Uncertain Road Ahead

With Popovich’s health now further in question, his long-term future with the Spurs remains unclear.

Fans and the basketball community alike are hoping for his full recovery, but only time will tell how his health will impact the remainder of his illustrious career.
