Brandel Chamblee, a respected golf analyst, recently shared his insights into former President Donald Trump’s performance on the golf course after playing alongside him before his potential re-election.
As a frequent golfer, even during his presidency, Trump has made a name for himself not just in politics but also in the golfing world.
Trump’s Love for the Game
Donald Trump is no stranger to the golf course, often playing a full 18 holes, even while in office.
He has a reputation for winning club championships at his golf courses across the country, and he’s played alongside some of the most renowned players in the sport, such as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau.
Brandel Chamblee, known for his straightforward and honest analysis, also had the opportunity to join Trump for a round of golf, offering a firsthand perspective of his golfing abilities.
The President’s Strengths on the Course
Chamblee, who is usually candid in his assessments, praised Trump’s performance, especially when it comes to his driving game.
“President Trump smokes it. Hits it on a line,” Chamblee commented during an appearance on Skip Bayless’ show.
He likened Trump’s swing to that of PGA Tour legend Bruce Lietzke, highlighting the former president’s power off the tee.
“He absolutely drives the eyes out of it and hits a lot of great iron shots,” Chamblee added, emphasizing Trump’s strength in long-distance shots.
Areas for Improvement
While Chamblee was full of praise for Trump’s driving and iron play, he did point out areas where the former president could improve.
Specifically, Chamblee noted that Trump is not the strongest around the greens, particularly when it comes to chipping and putting.
These aspects of his game, while not terrible, could benefit from some refinement.
A Day of Golf and Conversation
Beyond Trump’s golfing ability, Chamblee also praised the president’s passion for the sport and his engaging personality.
“He loves golf, absolutely loves golf,” Chamblee said.
During their round, Trump was described as very attentive and engaged with everyone in the group, asking thoughtful questions and discussing various golf shots and players in great detail.
“The president couldn’t have been more engaging to everybody in the group,” Chamblee added, highlighting how Trump made the experience enjoyable for all involved.
Trump and LIV Golf: A Controversial Topic
Chamblee, who has been a vocal critic of LIV Golf, also mentioned that Trump was eager to talk about the controversial Saudi-backed league during their round.
Trump, who has hosted several LIV Golf events at his courses, was keen to explain his perspective on the matter.
“He said: ‘I know we disagree about LIV, but let me just tell you why LIV is going to make it,'” Chamblee recalled.
Trump pointed to Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the head of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and a key supporter of LIV, stating that Al-Rumayyan “loves golf more than you do and more than I do.”
Despite their differing views on LIV, it was clear that Trump was deeply invested in the league’s future.
