Celiwe Dada Explains Why Her Nigerian Husband Refused to Divorce Her Amid Financial Struggles in South Africa

South African doctor and TikTok personality, Celiwe Dada, has recently shared the reason behind her Nigerian husband’s refusal to divorce her.

In a series of TikTok videos, Dada revealed that her husband, who is also the father of her children, had made it clear that he was not ready to end their marriage yet.

Her Husband’s Reason for Not Divorcing Her

According to Dada, her husband argued that it was “too soon” to divorce because he hadn’t received anything significant from the marriage yet.

He also mentioned that he had not yet gained South African citizenship, which was another reason he was hesitant to divorce.

“He said that our divorce can’t happen because it’s too soon for a divorce since he hadn’t gotten anything from the marriage,” Dada shared in her TikTok video.

“So, apparently, he hasn’t gained anything from the marriage, so I would have to sign for his citizenship first.”

The Financial Struggles and Settling Debt

In a separate video, Dada also revealed that she was responsible for paying the monthly installments of R23,000 for her husband’s Mercedes-Benz GLB, which was valued at R1.2 million.

She shared that after her husband crashed their first Mercedes-Benz, she managed to settle the debt for both of their cars.

This personal revelation comes as Dada continues to open up about her marital struggles and financial burdens on social media.

Dada’s Stance on Dating Nigerian Men

Dada also made it clear that, after her experience, she would not be dating a Nigerian man again.

Her husband, however, defended himself on TikTok, speaking out after trending on social media over the past week.

The Public’s Reaction to Dada’s Videos

The reactions to Dada’s videos on TikTok have been mixed.

Some South Africans shared their opinions on her situation, while others critiqued her decisions and choices.

One TikTok user, @SirDavid_Dashe, commented, “She learned the hard way.

But South African brothers aren’t gonna date her either.”

Another user, @TSambro, was less sympathetic, stating, “You are a doctor with a very low IQ. Is that an honorary doctorate?”

While some users criticized Dada, others expressed indifference, as @Mark_Forty2 noted, “We don’t care who she dates honestly, no need to tell us.

These people think we care what they do with their lives.”
