A group of hackers who have long shown disdain for Elon Musk has taken their anger to new extremes, putting Tesla owners at serious risk.
An interactive website, DOGEQUEST, has surfaced, exposing the personal details of Tesla drivers across the United States.
The site has published a map that reveals the names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails of Tesla owners.
But that’s not all—it also lists locations for Tesla showrooms, charging stations, and even the residences of Department of Government Efficiency employees, including FBI Director Kash Patel.
The hackers have even gone so far as to use a Molotov cocktail icon as the cursor on the site.
A Disturbing Demand
The website’s creators are making a chilling demand: they will only remove Tesla drivers’ personal information if the owners can prove they have sold their electric vehicles.
This comes amidst a national boycott against the car company.
While the source of the hackers’ information remains unclear, their actions have raised alarm bells.
Elon Musk himself condemned it, calling the site’s activities “extreme domestic terrorism,” after it encouraged further vandalism of Teslas.
Website’s Dangerous Message
On the site, the hackers explain their stance by saying they neither endorse nor oppose violent actions.
Their wording is even more alarming: “If you’re on the hunt for a Tesla to unleash your artistic flair with a spray can, just step outside – no map needed.”
This statement, along with the links to a website called the No Trace Project, hints at a larger agenda of anarchists seeking to evade surveillance while inciting rebellion.
The group seems to have no qualms about encouraging destruction under the guise of protest.
Calls for Action and the Growing Backlash
Many are now urging FBI Director Patel to take action against the hackers and take down DOGEQUEST.
In fact, former President Donald Trump himself weighed in, stating that anyone committing violence against Tesla vehicles and their dealerships should be labeled “domestic terrorists.”
This follows a week of fiery protests, including a large demonstration outside a Tesla showroom in New York City.
Activists carried placards calling for action against Musk and even chanted against his influence over government spending.
Increasing Violence Against Tesla
While protests have been a significant part of the movement, violence has escalated as well.
Multiple reports detail instances of vandalism, including one where a man defaced a Tesla Cybertruck with a swastika.
Just this week, an arsonist used Molotov cocktails to set fire to five Teslas at a dealership in Las Vegas, with three of the vehicles severely damaged.
The incident was made even more chilling by the fact that gunshots were fired into the burning cars, adding a dangerous level of aggression to the mix.
Backlash Against Musk’s Government Actions
The anger towards Musk is rooted in his attempts to reduce government spending by firing thousands of federal workers, including veterans.
These actions have drawn the ire of both protestors and federal judges.
Maryland District Judge Theodore Chuang recently blocked efforts to shut down the USAID agency, and other judges have been pushing to reinstate employees fired under Musk’s influence.
Tesla’s Market Struggles and Growing Criticism
As these tensions unfold, Tesla is also facing significant financial challenges.
Since hitting a peak in December, Tesla’s shares have dropped by 53%, and its market value has plummeted by over $800 billion.
This decline has sparked intense criticism, including from Ross Gerber, an early investor in the company.
Gerber publicly called for Musk to step down as CEO, arguing that Musk has spread himself too thin between Tesla, DOGE, and X, causing harm to the company’s reputation and bottom line.
A Crossroads for Tesla and Musk’s Leadership
As Tesla navigates its crisis, questions about Musk’s leadership continue to grow.
Gerber suggested that either Musk should focus on Tesla and relinquish his other roles or bring in a new CEO to lead the company.
With Tesla’s sales struggling and its reputation tarnished, the road ahead for both the company and its controversial leader remains uncertain.
