Diogo Dalot has shared his thoughts on the progress Manchester United has made under manager Ruben Amorim as they gear up for their Premier League clash with Leicester City this Sunday.
The Portuguese full-back believes that the team is steadily improving and that fans are starting to see the fruits of their hard work.
A Clearer Path Forward
Dalot emphasized that the team’s development is evident, even though it hasn’t been a smooth journey.
“I think you are now seeing a much better team than a couple of months ago,” he explained.
“When we talk about needing time, it’s not just to buy time—it’s real.
At a club like Manchester United, there’s always pressure to win, and when results aren’t going your way, it’s tough to show progress.
But in the last few matches, you can definitely see a change.
There’s been a variety in how we play, and overall, we are improving.
It’s something that everyone can see, but ultimately, the results will define where we stand.”
Taking Responsibility for the Club’s Future
When asked about Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent comments about some players not being up to par, Dalot acknowledged the pressure that comes with being part of a top club like Manchester United.
“This club will progress based on what we do on the pitch, and we all have a responsibility in shaping its future,” Dalot said.
“We understand that responsibility, and we’re ready to embrace it.
The pressure is high, but that’s why we’re here—we’re Manchester United players. If we want to turn things around, we need to do better.
Right now, being 14th in the league shows we’re not where we should be, and we’re determined to change that.
Our goal is to get Manchester United back at the top.”
A New Era at United
Having been at the club since 2018, Dalot has seen a lot of changes, working under seven different managers.
But he believes that this time feels different, especially with INEOS now involved.
“You can see that there’s a real shift happening at the club, particularly since INEOS came in,” Dalot said.
“There’s a new approach, and everyone can feel it.
The structure of the club is being built differently, and whether people like it or not, there are visible changes. It’s clear that the club is heading in a direction where they want to rebuild and put Manchester United back where it belongs. I hope in the next few years, we’ll get there.”
Mason Mount’s Return to Action
In other news, Mason Mount is expected to be on the bench for United’s upcoming match against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side.
Amorim confirmed that the 26-year-old, who has been out for three months with a hamstring injury, has returned to training and could soon make his comeback.
It’s clear that change is on the horizon for Manchester United, and with Dalot and the team taking ownership of their future, the pressure to get back to the top is stronger than ever.
