Parents Arrested in Logansport Indiana for Forcing Young Daughter to Stand Outside in Freezing Cold with Abusive Signs

A chilling scene unfolded in Logansport, Indiana, when a young girl was spotted standing outside in freezing temperatures, holding a disturbing sign.

The sign, which read “I want to stab and kill my brother, I even take an antipsychotic.

If you need to give pity, then give it to the victims,” was a heartbreaking reflection of the abuse she had been subjected to by her own parents.

The Arrest and Initial Confession

The girl’s parents, 33-year-old Cody Allen Scott, a police officer, and his 34-year-old wife, Kylie Jo Scott, were arrested after concerned passersby called 911 upon seeing the child standing in the snow on January 19.

Shockingly, Cody Scott confessed to the crime when he responded to the 911 call himself.

According to his statement, this form of punishment was the only one he believed would work on his daughter.

Additional Disturbing Incidents

This was not the first time the girl had been forced to endure such humiliation.

On a previous occasion, she was made to take a sign to school that read, “I pee on everything and cover it up like a cat.”

In another instance, she was seen walking around a Walmart with a sign that said, “I lie to hurt other people.”

These disturbing forms of punishment were reported by a Howard County DCS caseworker and the girl’s school.

The Confrontation with Bystanders

During the confrontation, Cody Scott was approached by a passerby who questioned why his daughter was standing out in the cold.

He casually responded, “Yup, she comes out here every 30 minutes, and she goes back inside every 10 minutes to warm back up,” all while being recorded on his own body camera.

When another onlooker asked for a brief explanation, Cody Scott offered a chilling justification.

He admitted to physically abusing the girl, claiming that nothing else had worked to control her behavior.

He elaborated on the situation, saying, “She’s threatened to kill my family, she wants to embarrass us, she wants to urinate on herself and destroy things in the house.

I have a DCS caseworker involved, she’s been in therapy for three years, she also has the wrap around program at school.”

Legal Consequences for the Parents

As a result of the disturbing events, both Cody and Kylie Scott were charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent, a level six felony.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and are due back in court on May 8, with a trial set for September 22.

Following his arrest, Cody Scott was placed on paid administrative leave, but the Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety Committee later voted unanimously to stop paying him.

The case has drawn widespread outrage, highlighting the extent of the abuse the young girl suffered.
