Manchester United fans might have some hope as Amad Diallo could be back in action before the season ends.
Head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed that there’s a possibility the Ivorian winger could return to the squad after recovering from his ankle injury.
The injury initially seemed like a major blow to the team, especially after Diallo had become an important player under Amorim’s leadership, scoring six goals.
However, Amorim’s update brings a much-needed dose of optimism.
Progress on Diallo’s Recovery
Diallo suffered a setback last month when he damaged his ankle ligaments during training, requiring surgery that sidelined him for what was initially thought to be the rest of the season.
But Amorim has revealed that Diallo has been progressing well in his recovery, and there’s now a chance he could make it back for the final stretch of the campaign.
“Amad, we will see in the last month,” Amorim said ahead of Sunday’s match against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
“I don’t want to say anything, but I have hope to have Amad before the end of the season. Let’s talk about Sunday and we’ll see.”
Injury Updates and Squad Concerns
Although Diallo’s return is uncertain, the injury situation at Manchester United is slowly improving.
Amorim pointed out that, despite the setbacks, some players are nearing a comeback.
While he doesn’t expect anyone to return in time for the upcoming match against Arsenal, Mason Mount is progressing and could be back soon.
Mount, who hasn’t played since the Manchester derby in December, is getting closer to fitness, and Amorim is confident that other injured players, such as Kobbie Mainoo, Harry Maguire, Manuel Ugarte, and Luke Shaw, will also be returning soon.
However, the bad news is that Lisandro Martinez won’t be back this season, leaving a gap in United’s defense. Amorim stated, “Lisandro is out. Kobbie can return.
Maguire we have to be careful with. Manu will return. I think Luke Shaw and Mason Mount can return also. They are definitely going to return, especially Mason Mount.”
Tough Decisions Ahead: Who Will Start Against Arsenal?
With United’s injury list still affecting their squad depth, Amorim faces some tough decisions for Sunday’s clash with Arsenal.
One of the key decisions is whether to start Chido Obi, the young striker who wasn’t eligible for Thursday’s Europa League match against Real Sociedad.
Rasmus Højlund, who has been struggling with a goal drought, continued his barren run in the Europa League, and tensions seemed high after a public disagreement with teammate Diogo Dalot.
Amorim stressed that everyone is being considered for a starting spot, with the team’s current situation demanding flexibility. “Everybody can start,” he said.
“If they are training tomorrow, if they play today, they can be ready – and Chido is on the list so he can play.”
He also noted that, given the club’s small squad and the risks of injuries, they have to be cautious but still remain competitive.
Moving Forward
With key players returning from injury and new challenges ahead, Amorim’s task is to keep the team competitive, especially with Arsenal coming up.
Despite the difficulties, United is pushing forward, keeping hope alive for a successful conclusion to the season.
Fans will be hoping for Diallo’s early return and that the team can shake off any injuries and maintain their form for the final stretch.
