Waking up to find your luxury cars missing isn’t exactly how Miami quarterback Carson Beck and his girlfriend, Hurricanes basketball star Hanna Cavinder, planned to start their day.
But that’s exactly what happened on the morning of February 20 when the couple discovered that Beck’s $300,000 Lamborghini Urus and Mercedes-Benz E635 had been stolen right from his South Florida home.
Cavinder’s Range Rover was also moved down the street, leaving the couple confused and concerned.
Police Respond to the Scene
Miami-Dade officers arrived at Beck’s modern two-story home around 7:30 a.m. after receiving a report of the robbery, as first reported by TMZ.
Body-camera footage shows the moment officers were greeted by a Miami football staffer who introduced Beck as “our quarterback.”
Despite the stressful situation, Beck and Cavinder remained composed while speaking with police, detailing how they had gone to bed the night before with all doors locked and the vehicles safely parked inside the garage.
However, they woke up to find their garage door wide open and the vehicles missing.
How the Thieves Gained Access
Investigators later determined that the burglars had accessed the garage by using an opener found inside Cavinder’s Range Rover.
This allowed them to enter the home and take the key fobs for Beck’s vehicles, making the heist all too easy.
To make matters worse, Beck admitted in the police footage that he had not yet set up his security cameras, as he had only recently moved into the house.
Arrest Made in Connection to the Theft
Just days later, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest in connection to the theft.
Authorities apprehended 20-year-old Tykwon Deandre Anderson, charging him with burglary of an occupied dwelling while wearing a mask, grand theft, and grand theft of a vehicle.
According to the arrest report, Anderson and three other men arrived at Beck’s residence in a rented Mercedes-Benz.
Two of the thieves hopped the fence and broke into Cavinder’s Range Rover, where they found the garage opener.
From there, they entered the house, located the key fobs, and drove off with the luxury cars.
The stolen Range Rover and Mercedes were later recovered, though the Lamborghini’s whereabouts remain unclear.
Police were able to track Anderson after discovering he had rented the getaway vehicle.
When officers pulled him over, he confessed to being the driver of the Lamborghini and provided details about how the burglary unfolded.
Anderson is currently being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
Beck and Cavinder’s Rising Profiles
While this incident was an unfortunate disruption, Beck and Cavinder have been making headlines for more than just crime reports.
The couple, who have been dating since last year, first caught public attention in a TikTok video posted on the popular Cavinder Twins’ profile during the Fourth of July weekend.
Beck, formerly a Georgia Bulldogs quarterback, transferred to Miami as one of the highest-paid college athletes under NCAA’s Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreements.
His endorsements with brands like Beats by Dre, Powerade, and Chipotle have contributed to his reported NIL valuation of $4.3 million.
Meanwhile, Cavinder, alongside her twin sister Haley, dominates the college sports social media scene with a combined following of 5.5 million.
The twins, who both play for the Hurricanes’ women’s basketball team, rank among the highest-earning female college athletes.
A Growing Trend of Athlete Burglaries
Unfortunately, Beck and Cavinder are not alone in experiencing high-profile burglaries.
Just last year, multiple sports stars fell victim to organized crime targeting professional athletes.
- French football star Olivier Giroud had his Los Angeles home broken into.
- Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, had his home burglarized in October, followed by teammate Travis Kelce’s house just two days later.
- Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s house was broken into while he played on Monday Night Football.
- Pittsburgh Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin had three of his Stanley Cup rings stolen.
- NBA star Ja Morant lost over $1 million worth of jewelry, watches, and luxury items in a December robbery.
- The fiancée of Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott also had her vehicle stolen.
- Then-Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic’s home was robbed in late December.
These crimes have become so widespread that the FBI has even issued warnings to professional sports leagues about organized burglary rings targeting high-profile athletes.
What’s Next for Beck and Cavinder?
As of now, neither Beck nor Cavinder has publicly commented on the theft.
While they may be shaken by the incident, their careers and social influence remain strong.
With Beck’s prominence in college football and Cavinder’s growing social media empire, this incident is unlikely to slow them down.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, hoping to recover the missing Lamborghini and identify other suspects involved in the heist.
For now, the couple will likely be taking extra security precautions—perhaps finally setting up those cameras.
