Zeenat Simjee Transitions to a New Role with Springboks as Robyn Moore Joins as Team Dietician for 2025 World Cup

Over the last few years, Zeenat Simjee has been a central figure in the Springboks’ performance as their team dietician.

However, as time went on, her role began to shift towards new responsibilities, including work with various other national teams.

Zeenat’s Evolving Role

In the second half of last year, Simjee revealed on social media that she had decided to dedicate July and August to working with the Springboks Sevens, the South African U18s, and the Springbok Women’s team.

She explained that, typically, those months were reserved for the senior Springbok team, but her professional goals had evolved over time.

“At 21, I set a dream to work with the Springboks.

Last year, my goals evolved,” Simjee shared in a heartfelt Instagram post.

“I work with several teams and I can’t be everywhere at once, but I’m committed to giving my all wherever I can—advocating for sports nutrition every step of the way.”

Her message reflected her deep passion for growth and excellence, especially in supporting the women’s team she was now focusing on.

The Off-Field Drama and Her Commitment to the Springboks

Simjee’s journey with the Springboks hasn’t been without controversy.

In 2022, allegations emerged regarding her personal life, involving Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies.

These rumors stirred up some media attention, but Simjee firmly denied them and remained a key part of the team through their 2023 World Cup triumph.

Despite the off-field drama, Simjee’s dedication to the Springboks remained steadfast, and her contributions to the team were undeniable.

Changes to the Springboks’ Support Staff

As Simjee transitions into a more diversified role within South African rugby, the Springboks have made significant changes to their management team.

One notable move is the confirmation of Robyn Moore as the new permanent team dietician, effective from April 1.

Moore has worked closely with the teams over the past few seasons and will now take on a more permanent role.

In addition, Lance Lemmetjies, currently the Bulls’ physiotherapist, will return to the Springboks in June.

Lemmetjies previously worked with the national team during the British & Irish Lions Series in 2021 and again with the South Africa ‘A’ team during their 2022 tour.

Praise from Rassie Erasmus

Springbok head coach, Rassie Erasmus, expressed his confidence in the new appointments.

“Lance worked with us during the British & Irish Lions series and also with the SA ‘A’ team, and we are excited to welcome him to the team,” Erasmus commented.

He was equally complimentary of Moore, noting her qualifications: “Robyn is a highly qualified professional holding a Masters Degree from the University of Pretoria with graduate qualifications from the University of Stellenbosch.”

The Springboks’ Updated Management Team

The Springboks’ management structure is shaping up as they prepare for the next World Cup.

Alongside Erasmus, the team will continue to be supported by a strong group of assistants and medical staff, ensuring a well-rounded approach to the team’s development and success.
