In a surprising move, Marumo Gallants have announced the immediate departure of both their head coach, Dan Malesela, and technical director, Molefi Ntseki.
This decision comes shortly after the club’s disappointing 3-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns earlier this week, which further worsened their current relegation battle.
Gallants’ Struggling Season Leads to Management Changes
Currently sitting 14th in the league standings, with only four wins from 17 matches, Marumo Gallants are fighting to avoid relegation.
Despite Malesela’s team playing attractive football, results have been elusive, prompting the club to seek a fresh direction.
Malesela had taken over as head coach in July last year, but the club’s struggle to climb the league table ultimately led to his dismissal.
The Appointment of Molefi Ntseki and His Departure
Molefi Ntseki, the former Kaizer Chiefs coach, joined Gallants as technical director in November 2024.
His appointment was aimed at bolstering the technical side of the team and improving performance.
However, after just a few months, both Ntseki and Malesela have been shown the door as Gallants look for a new approach to turn their season around.
Interim Coaching Staff and the Road Ahead
While the club searches for a permanent head coach, assistant coaches Sundra Govender and Duncan Lechesa will temporarily take charge of the team.
Gallants still have 13 matches left this season, and the pressure is on for them to secure their top-flight status.
The club’s statement acknowledged the contributions of Malesela and Ntseki, wishing them the best in their future endeavors.
The decision marks a new chapter for Marumo Gallants as they aim to bounce back from a difficult start to the season.
