The Circular Economy ClimAccelerator in Nairobi is designed to fast-track local solutions that are already making strides in shifting the ecosystem towards sustainability.
The goal of this program is to accelerate mature Circular Economy solutions that are addressing key environmental challenges.
What is ClimAccelerator?
ClimAccelerator is a global initiative aimed at helping startups innovate, grow, and scale their climate solutions.
The Nairobi-based program specifically targets local businesses that are focused on waste management and prevention.
The goal is to provide them with the tools, resources, and support they need to expand their impact and move the community closer to a circular economy.
Who Can Apply?
If you’re running a business that fits the following criteria, you’re eligible to apply for the program:
- Your business is for-profit and has an annual turnover of at least USD 50,000.
- Your product or service works to eliminate, reduce, or prevent waste right at the source.
- Your solution has a positive social, environmental, or local impact.
- Your solution serves or benefits informal sectors or marginalized communities.
- You’re operating within the Nairobi Metropolitan area.
- You have at least two full-time co-founders and five full-time employees.
- Your business has been running for at least 3 years.
Program Structure
The program is split into two phases, each focused on giving your business the support it needs to grow and make a bigger impact.
Phase 1: Audit, Analysis, and Development (5 Months)
In this phase, participants will go through an intensive series of workshops and activities aimed at identifying their strengths and areas for growth.
Here’s what the first phase includes:
- 5 months of in-depth analysis, including Circular Impact Assessment and Climate Impact Validation.
- Development of tailored goals, gaps, and GrowthSprints strategies.
- 5 workshops that span 3 full days each, held monthly (Tuesday-Thursday) in person in Nairobi.
- One-on-one support with 4 in-house sessions to provide personalized guidance.
- 10 mentoring sessions, both local and international, conducted in a hybrid format.
Phase 2: Investment Readiness and Pitch Event (1 Month)
The second phase focuses on preparing businesses for the next stage of their journey. It includes:
- 1 month of investment readiness support to help you refine your pitch and attract investors.
- A pitch event where you’ll present your business to potential backers.
All in all, the program includes 29 valuable sessions aimed at helping you scale and succeed.
