Man Stalks and Attacks Two Women in Violent Robbery Incidents at East London Stations Leading to His Eight-Year Prison Sentence

In a chilling series of events, a man stalked and violently attacked two women at different stations in East London.

Edward Ampeh, 33, targeted the women while they were alone, following them off a train and then assaulting them in cold blood to steal from them.

The First Attack at Greenwich Station

The first attack occurred on May 6, 2022, at Greenwich Station, just after midnight.

Ampeh was caught on CCTV following a woman who had just exited a DLR train.

As she walked down the platform, he verbally abused her, forcing her toward the railings.

In a sudden and violent move, he struck her on the back of the head before demanding the contents of her handbag.

Terrified, the victim handed over some money and a phone charger.

Ampeh then went a step further, asking her where she lived, demanding that she email him her phone number, and even insisting she follow him on Instagram.

A Second Attack at Limewater Station

Ampeh’s violent behavior escalated just a few months later, on September 5, 2022, at Limewater Station.

This time, he targeted another woman who had just stepped off a train. Sneaking up behind her, he grabbed her handbag straps so forcefully that the woman screamed as she fought back.

In the struggle, she lost her balance and tumbled down a set of stairs, twisting her leg badly in the fall.

Ampeh was seen on camera rummaging through the victim’s handbag before casually leaving the station, tossing the bag aside.

Ampeh Found Guilty and Sentenced to Prison

Despite the clear video evidence of both incidents, Ampeh denied any involvement when questioned by police.

His lack of remorse was evident during his interrogation.

However, on February 17, 2025, he was found guilty of two robbery charges and sentenced to eight years in prison at Inner London Crown Court.

Investigation and Closure for Victims

Detective Constable Tom Bolton, who led the investigation, expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, stating, “Ampeh acted in a predatory and violent manner, targeting lone women for his own gain.

His actions will have a lifelong impact on his victims, and I hope this result will bring them some closure.”

He further emphasized that such violent behavior would not be tolerated, and vowed that authorities would continue to investigate dangerous offenders relentlessly.
