On an episode of Watch What Happens Live! with host Andy Cohen, the 72-year-old comedian made an unexpected confession about the former NFL star.
A Blast from the Past: 1978 Kiss
During the show, Newman opened up about a moment from 1978 when she locked lips with Simpson.
She was on the show playing the game “Work the Polls” with fellow SNL alum Cheri Oteri, Ana Gasteyer, Cecily Strong, and Rachel Dratch.
The group was discussing whether athletes made good SNL hosts when Newman casually mentioned that Simpson was “a good host and a good kisser.”
She continued by recalling a skit they did based on the controversial 1975 film Mandingo.
The parody saw a shirtless OJ Simpson share a passionate kiss with Newman, an event that took place long before Simpson became one of America’s most infamous figures after the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994.
OJ Simpson’s Infamous Rise to Notoriety
Before all the legal drama, Simpson was a well-known NFL player, primarily with the Buffalo Bills.
He later transitioned into acting but found his fame overshadowed by the charges against him for the murders of Nicole and Ron.
Simpson’s acquittal in the murder trial in 1995 made headlines, but it didn’t erase the damage to his public image.

He quickly became a notable presence on the platform, posting videos with his opinions on various topics and gaining hundreds of thousands of followers.
Despite the years of scandal, Simpson remained a figure of intense public interest.
