Royal AM owner Shauwn Mkhize is facing one of the toughest periods of her career, with mounting financial troubles putting her club in jeopardy.

From massive debts to postponed matches and player strikes, the challenges just keep piling up.

A Mountain of Debt Raising Questions

Mkhize reportedly owes a staggering R51.1 million, with R40 million due to the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and another R11.1 million owed to former striker Samir Nurkovic.

Additionally, the club still has outstanding wages to pay former captain Ricardo Nascimento, though the exact amount remains undisclosed.

Despite these financial woes, Mkhize’s net worth is estimated at R300 million, according to Sassa Insider. This has left many wondering why she has not settled the debts and what this means for the future of Royal AM.

Royal AM in Crisis Mode

The troubles don’t stop with financial setbacks.

Royal AM has not played a match since December 29, leading to the postponement of eight fixtures, including crucial games against Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

The club’s struggles have also sparked unrest within the squad.

Several players went on strike over unpaid salaries, with some even requesting contract terminations in hopes of joining rival clubs during the recent transfer window.

Mkhize Addresses the Growing Concerns

Amid the ongoing crisis, Mkhize released a statement reassuring players, staff, and fans that efforts are being made to resolve the situation.

“The club’s management team, led by our CEO and General Manager, has been working diligently with the curator to secure the necessary permissions to release funds for salary payments,” Mkhize said.

“It has always been the ethos of Royal AM to prioritize the well-being of our personnel, and we remain dedicated to upholding that principle despite the current challenges.

“We appreciate the patience and support of our players, staff, and their families during this difficult time.

Additionally, we thank our fans, sponsors, and broader stakeholders for their continued trust and loyalty.

“Royal AM is committed to preserving the integrity of the club and ensuring its long-term success.

We remain optimistic that this situation will be resolved soon, and we will provide timely updates as developments unfold.”

What’s Next for Royal AM?

With ongoing financial struggles and no clear resolution in sight, questions are being raised about the club’s future in the PSL.

Should Royal AM face expulsion from the league if the issues persist?
