The transfer rumor mill is heating up again, and this time, all eyes are on Feisal Salum.
The Tanzanian midfield maestro has reportedly turned down a contract extension from Azam FC, fueling speculation about his next move.
With South African giants Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns showing interest, could a switch to the PSL be on the horizon?
Chiefs and Sundowns in the Race for Salum
For a while now, Salum’s name has been linked with South Africa’s top clubs.
In July 2024, Mamelodi Sundowns made an official bid for the 27-year-old, but Azam FC rejected the offer as it fell short of their R36 million valuation.
Despite this setback, both Sundowns and Chiefs have continued to monitor his situation closely.
Now, with Salum refusing to extend his stay at Azam FC, the door is wide open for a possible move.
According to Africafoot.com, the playmaker has made it clear that he wants to explore new opportunities beyond his current club.
Salum’s Decision Sparks Transfer Speculation
Azam FC had high hopes of keeping Salum in their squad, offering him a new three-year contract to secure his services.
However, he has reportedly declined the deal, setting the stage for a potential departure at the end of the 2024/2025 Tanzanian Premier League season.
A source close to the situation shared insights with Africafoot.com, stating:
“Feisal Salum has made his decision and informed the club that he will not extend his contract.
He enjoys playing at Azam, but he is ready for a new challenge.”
With his current deal nearing its end, Azam FC now faces a tough choice—cash in on him before his contract expires or risk losing him on a free transfer.
Will Salum Be Kaizer Chiefs’ Next Big Signing?
While no official deal has been confirmed, Kaizer Chiefs are said to be in a strong position to land the talented midfielder.
Sources suggest that Naturena could very well be his next destination, though nothing is set in stone just yet.
“A move to Kaizer Chiefs? It’s too early to say for sure, but it’s a very real possibility,” the insider added.
Given Chiefs’ need for creative reinforcements in midfield, Salum could be the missing piece in their puzzle.
However, with other clubs likely to enter the race, the competition for his signature is far from over.
From Young Africans to Rising Market Value
Salum made the switch to Azam FC from Young Africans SC in July 2023 for a transfer fee of €69,000 (R1.3 million).
Since then, his market value has soared, with Transfermarkt now estimating him at €150,000 (R2.8 million).
His impressive performances have only increased interest from clubs looking for a dynamic playmaker.
Now, as the 2024/2025 season progresses, all eyes will be on where Salum lands next.
Will Kaizer Chiefs make their move, or will another club swoop in to secure his signature?
