Shocking Attack on Family Cat in Quiet Village
A quiet village in Northamptonshire has been shaken by a distressing incident involving a local cat.
The poor feline has been left traumatized after allegedly being targeted in a firework attack.
The shocking event, which was caught on video, shows the cat walking into a birdhouse rigged with explosives and being blasted by a sudden detonation.
The Attack and its Aftermath
It’s believed that the person behind the attack is none other than Councillor James Garnor. The incident is said to be one of at least two similar attacks in the village of Whittlebury. According to reports, Garnor allegedly used remote-controlled devices to trigger explosives aimed at local animals. The local authorities were notified in October 2023 after a concerned resident filed a complaint about the incident, which happened back in April 2023. Despite the disturbing footage being shown to Garnor during a voluntary interview, the police concluded there was not enough evidence to press criminal charges. However, they did address the situation under anti-social behavior laws.
The Impact on Suki, the Family Cat
Nikki, the owner of Suki—the cat who was the target of the attack—has shared the emotional toll it has taken on her beloved pet.
Suki, who once enjoyed long cuddles and playful moments, has since changed dramatically.
“She used to be a lovely cat,” Nikki explained.
“She would come and sit for hours, cuddling and playing, always there if you wanted a hug.
Now, she rarely comes near anyone, and when she does, she’s defensive—hissing and growling.
” Nikki pointed out that this sudden shift in behavior happened almost overnight after the attack, which caused visible injuries like singed whiskers.
Nikki was sent a video of the incident, which shows Suki walking toward the birdhouse before a flash of light erupts, causing her to flee in panic.
Unclear Motivation and Mixed Reactions
The reason behind the explosions remains unclear, but some residents of Whittlebury suspect that Garnor may have been trying to stop cats from raiding food meant for birds.
Still, opinions in the village are divided.
Some locals, frustrated by the nuisance of cats in the area, argue that Garnor shouldn’t be heavily penalized, especially since the attack didn’t seem to cause any serious harm.
In fact, one resident even said the whole matter was being “blown out of proportion.”
On the other hand, there are those, like Amelia, who believe Garnor’s actions were utterly irresponsible, especially given his role as a local councillor.
“He’s supposed to set an example,” she said.
“It’s clear from the footage that this wasn’t an accident—he was waiting with the detonator, deliberately luring the cat into the birdhouse.”
Both the Whittlebury Parish Council and Northamptonshire police have been contacted for further comment.
