Road Closures for Conservation Efforts
If you’re planning to drive on Chapman’s Peak Drive in the coming weeks, you might want to note a few temporary changes.
In support of vital conservation work by SANParks at Table Mountain National Park, which includes removing invasive alien plant species, the road will be closed every Wednesday between 10:00 and 16:00 on the following dates:
February:
- 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th
March:
- 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th
Plan Ahead with Alternative Routes
For safety and to assist with these important conservation efforts, both motorists and those out on bikes or foot should plan to use alternative routes during these closure hours.
These measures are in place to protect the unique biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom, which is a key focus of the ongoing environmental preservation work.
You can check Chapman’s Peak Drive’s social media pages for updates on the closure or any changes to the schedule.

Training for the Cape Town Cycle Tour?
Good news for those training for the Cape Town Cycle Tour on Sunday, March 9 – you won’t be affected by the closures on that day.
However, it’s a good idea to take the Chapman’s Peak Drive road closures into account when planning your preparation rides in the weeks leading up to the event.
By the way, what’s the most scenic road you’ve ever driven on?
