Thug Simon Kubalik Found Dead in Prison Just Two Months Into His Six-Year Sentence for Brutal Robbery in Leeds

A violent criminal who had been sentenced to six years in prison for robbing a Good Samaritan has been found dead just two months into his sentence.

Simon Kubalik, who was 20 years old, had been jailed for a savage attack on a man who kindly offered him a lift.

The Robbery That Shocked a Community

The incident occurred in April 2025, when Kubalik asked a stranger, who was parked on Harehills Lane in Leeds, for a ride.

Along with a female companion, he got into the car, and after being driven a short distance to St Albans Road, Kubalik turned on the driver.

Without warning, he launched a brutal attack, punching the man repeatedly in the face.

The assault left the victim severely injured, suffering multiple facial fractures that required surgery to repair.

After the attack, Kubalik stole the victim’s wallet and phone before fleeing the scene.

Arrest and Conviction

The police quickly tracked Kubalik down using CCTV footage and arrested him.

In October of the same year, he pleaded guilty to the robbery.

A month later, he was sentenced to six years behind bars and was also fined £228.

Kubalik was incarcerated at HMP Doncaster to serve his sentence.

Death in Custody

However, Kubalik’s time in prison was short-lived.

On January 16, just two months into his sentence, he was found dead at the prison.

An investigation into his death has been launched by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman (PPO), who are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his passing.

Impact on the Victim

Detective Constable Joe Kendrew, who worked on the case, spoke about the brutality of the attack after Kubalik’s sentencing.

“This attack was so violent that it left his victim with multiple facial fractures which required several operations,” he said.

“I hope this outcome will be of some comfort to him as he continues his recovery.”

An investigation is ongoing to understand more about Kubalik’s death while behind bars.
