Reese Witherspoon shocked fans this week when she opened up about a hidden feud with a fellow A-list actress.
During a joint interview with You’re Cordially Invited co-star Will Ferrell, Witherspoon shared the awkward story of how a once-close friendship with a movie star soured after a disastrous moment at an awards ceremony.
The Embarrassing Roast Moment
Witherspoon recalled how this actress, whom she didn’t know well but admired, asked her to speak at an awards event in her honor.
The ceremony was supposed to be classy and elegant, but Witherspoon, not familiar with the tone, thought it was more like a roast.
“I got up and I roasted her,” Witherspoon confessed, laughing.
However, her attempt at humor backfired when the audience didn’t react well to her funny anecdotes.
“I was like, ‘Remember that time we got laser hair removal?!’” Witherspoon laughed, still feeling the embarrassment.
Unfortunately, the speech didn’t land the way she had hoped, and the actress stopped talking to her afterward.
“We’re not friends anymore,” Witherspoon said candidly.
“I think she doesn’t like me anymore.
I thought it was so funny, but I just had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad.”

Despite the fallout from the awkward moment, Witherspoon has plenty to be excited about.
She recently revealed that production for the Legally Blonde prequel series is set to begin in March 2025.
Witherspoon, who will executive produce the show through her company Hello Sunshine, shared her excitement about the casting process.
She even joked about the experience of finding someone to play the young Elle Woods, saying, “It’s kind of a trip,” and expressing how fun it is to watch young actresses filled with enthusiasm.
The prequel, which will dive into Elle Woods’ early years, is highly anticipated by fans.
Witherspoon’s iconic role as the bubbly, ambitious lawyer Elle Woods first made waves in 2001, followed by the sequel in 2003.
Now, a new generation will get to experience her story.
