Ferne McCann’s recent departure from Dancing On Ice has sparked discussions, especially after it was revealed that some of her closest friends failed to support her during the competition.
The reality star and former TOWIE cast member, 34, was eliminated on Sunday after a performance where she dressed as a troll, as part of the show’s movie week.
Ferne was the second celebrity to leave the competition after receiving the fewest votes from viewers, finishing third from the bottom.
Lack of Support From Close Friends
While a few of Ferne’s friends, including Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley, showed public support, others seemed to stay silent.
According to sources, some of her closest friends did not even post the ITV number to help rally votes for her.
“One of her best friends totally ignored it, even though she’s been there for them through thick and thin,” an insider revealed.
It’s suggested that had her friends stepped up and shown more visible support, the outcome might have been different.
Ferne’s Emotional Exit and Support From Her Fiancé
After her elimination, Ferne spoke to hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, visibly disappointed but accepting the decision.
“I’m so gutted, so gutted, but… it is what it is,” she said, referring to her exit from the competition.
Holly offered kind words, acknowledging Ferne’s achievements throughout her time on the show.
However, while some of Ferne’s friends were quiet, her fiancé, Lorri Haines, was quick to show his unwavering support.
He posted an emotional message on Instagram, praising her for her accomplishments.
Lorri expressed his pride, saying, “I’m not only grateful that you are my partner in all walks of life, but I’m very proud of you for everything you have accomplished… For anyone to learn a new skill (in such a short time) is super hard.”
He added, “You smashed the performance, it was so fun to watch.”
A Fun Farewell to Dancing On Ice
Ferne’s journey on Dancing On Ice ended during the lively movie week, where she and her skating partner Brendyn Hatfield performed to “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire while dressed as characters from DreamWorks’ Trolls.
Despite a fun routine that earned them a solid score of 28 from the judges, it wasn’t enough to keep them in the competition.
Unfortunately, due to Josh Jones’ withdrawal from the show because of an injury, there was no skate-off, and the lowest-placed couple was automatically eliminated.
Family Support and Love During the Show
As Ferne made her exit, her family was there for her, arriving at the rink dressed as trolls in a nod to the theme of the week.
Her fiancé, Lorri, and their daughters, Sunday and Finty, joined her on set, showing their love and backing her throughout the entire experience.
Their appearance was a sweet surprise and showed the support Ferne had from her loved ones despite the silence from some of her celebrity friends.
