Eva Speakman, co-host of This Morning and mental health expert, has taken to social media to defend her husband Nik after he faced harsh criticism online for his changing appearance.
The couple, known as The Speakmans, are renowned for their work helping individuals overcome mental health issues, trauma, and phobias.
Defending Nik Against the Cruel Comments
The criticism came after Eva and Nik posted a series of photos on Instagram, where a troll commented that Nik should “stop with the filler.”
Eva, who is 55, quickly addressed the remark, explaining that her husband’s appearance was due to steroids, not cosmetic procedures.
She responded directly to the troll, saying, “Please don’t be judgmental.
He’s on steroids & can’t help the effect.”
This comment came after a post that showed the couple on This Morning, trying to brighten up viewers’ days.
Fans quickly rallied around them in support, with many sharing their own experiences with steroids and the visible changes they can cause.
One fan shared, “I’ve had the same happen when I was on them,” while another wrote, “People can be cruel, I am on steroids so I know the feeling when people judge.”
Dealing with Online Bullying
Eva, who has been a victim of bullying throughout her life, revealed the emotional toll trolling has taken on her.
She opened up last year on the My Dirty Laundry podcast, discussing how hurtful online comments had been, especially when she and Nik first began appearing on This Morning.
“I was bullied through my entire childhood, even up until I met Nik,” she said.
“And so I’d gone from that and then Nik kind of came and helped me to build up my self-esteem again.”
Despite the hurt, Eva learned to rise above the negativity.
“We just very quickly got into the habit of just blocking.
Don’t take the bait. Just block and move on,” she explained. ”
Anybody who feels that it’s appropriate to be unkind to anyone isn’t worth any time at all.”
The Speakmans’ Success in Helping Others
Eva and Nik’s expertise has also led them to help high-profile clients, including This Morning host Holly Willoughby.
The Speakmans assisted Holly in overcoming her fear of ghosts and flying, both of which stemmed from a traumatic experience during a plane ride.
“Her fear came from presenting a kids’ TV show… she just thought the plane was going down,” Eva recalled.
The therapy was a success, and Holly even sent a picture of herself smiling and giving a thumbs-up from her flight the following week.
The Speakmans’ methods continue to positively impact those who need help navigating their fears and challenges, proving that kindness and support can overcome even the most difficult obstacles.
