A shocking case has emerged in South Africa, where police are investigating the brutal murder of a 29-year-old woman in the Free State.
Authorities suspect her husband, a 34-year-old man, fled to Zimbabwe after the crime.
The disturbing incident has sparked outrage across the country, with police vowing to ensure justice for the victim.
The Mystery Begins with a Missing Couple
The story began on January 17, 2025, when a couple from Mutale in the Vhembe District was reported missing under the Moroka Police jurisdiction in Gauteng.
Days later, on January 20, police in Musina received a critical tip-off from a vehicle tracking company.
A white Ford Ranger with Limpopo plates, belonging to the missing couple, had been spotted at a residence in Campbell.
This discovery raised suspicions, as the vehicle’s owner was nowhere to be found.
The investigation took a darker turn when authorities learned that the car had been dropped off by a man planning to cross into Zimbabwe.
Uncovering the Gruesome Details
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the Campbell homeowner claimed he was storing the vehicle with the owner’s consent.
The male owner had borrowed a significant amount of cash and mentioned plans to cross the Zimbabwean border for “spiritual assistance” related to workplace issues.
A closer inspection of the vehicle revealed chilling evidence: bloodstains, empty cartridges from a rifle and a 9mm pistol, live ammunition, two pistol magazines, and black gloves.
These findings deepened the mystery and hinted at a violent act.
The Heartbreaking Discovery
On January 22, police uncovered the lifeless body of the 29-year-old woman in the bushes along the N1 near Kromdraai in the Free State.
She had been shot multiple times, confirming suspicions of foul play.
Investigators later found that her husband had passed through the Verkeerdeveli Toll Gate alone on the evening of the murder.
Arrest and Hunt for the Suspect
In a significant breakthrough, police arrested a 24-year-old man in the Tshamutumbu policing area.
During the operation, authorities found two firearms, including a hunting rifle, in the suspect’s possession.
However, the primary suspect, Dakalo Nemangwele, remains on the run.
Investigators believe he crossed into Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge Port of Entry shortly after the murder.
Police are now urging the public to assist in locating Nemangwele, who they believe could hold key answers to this tragic case.
Seeking Justice and Public Assistance
Law enforcement remains committed to ensuring justice for the victim.
Limpopo’s Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has emphasized that no stone will be left unturned in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
