SuperSport United confirms loss of striker Tashreeq Morris to Kaizer Chiefs after promising start in the season

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has confirmed the departure of striker Tashreeq Morris to rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

The 30-year-old forward, who joined Matsatsantsa at the start of the season, had started to make an impact with the club before being snapped up by Amakhosi.

The Impact of Morris’ Departure

Morris, who netted two goals this season, including one against Chiefs in a league match, was beginning to settle in at SuperSport.

Hunt expressed his disappointment at the loss but acknowledged that the move was a great opportunity for Morris.

“Yeah, he just came in two months ago.

Well, for us, you know, obviously it’s a blow, but it’s a great opportunity for him,” Hunt told the media.

He continued, “Financially, it will help him, so it is a no-brainer for the boy, so what can I do?”

SuperSport Brings in Saile in Swap Deal

Despite losing Morris, Hunt confirmed that SuperSport United has secured the services of Kaizer Chiefs winger Saile in a swap deal.

“Yes, he is coming in,” Hunt said.

Saile has struggled to make an impact at Chiefs since joining in 2023, scoring only six goals in 49 appearances.

The 60-year-old coach may look to utilize Saile in a different role, but it remains to be seen whether the Congolese winger will find his form at SuperSport.

Will Saile Shine at SuperSport?

While Hunt’s side still boasts former Chiefs player Samir Nurkovic, who is yet to score in two matches, the departure of Morris could have a significant impact on SuperSport’s attack.

The club will be hoping that Saile can find his form and make a difference on the field going forward.
