The Department of Basic Education is urging candidates who would like to re-mark or re-check their 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exam scripts to submit their applications before the deadline.
The re-mark and re-check services opened on January 14, 2025, and will remain available until January 29, 2025.
How to Apply and Fees for Re-marks and Re-checks
Both full-time and part-time candidates—those who may have been upgrading their results—are eligible to apply. If you’re interested, here’s what you need to know about the application process:
- Re-marking: R120
- Re-checking: R30
- Viewing of scripts: R230
Applications for these services can be made at the school or exam center where you sat for your 2024 exams.
Be sure to act before the deadline, as the results will be released on March 7, 2025, and can be collected from the same location, including for those who applied online.
Don’t Forget to Check Your Statement of Results
The Department of Basic Education also recommends that candidates review the information on the back of their statement of results.
This contains important details that might help in the application process and beyond.
Second Chance Matric Programme Offers New Opportunity
If you’re looking for another chance to improve your matric results, the Second Chance Matric Programme (SCMP) might be for you.
Registration for the SCMP opened in October 2024 and will close on February 7, 2025.
This program, which has been running since 2016, is designed to assist learners who didn’t meet the requirements for the NSC or the extended Senior Certificate (SC).
Interested candidates can register online for the NSC part-time rewrite or visit their nearest district office.
The department encourages everyone to explore this opportunity if they want to improve their results.
Support for Learners from Government and Minister Nzimande
Professor Blade Nzimande, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, has expressed his support for learners who did not perform as expected.
He encourages them to remain optimistic and explore other post-school opportunities, including training programs.
Minister Nzimande emphasized that a second chance is available for those who want to improve their performance, and that the department is here to support their journey.
