Kaizer Chiefs have been actively pursuing new signings this transfer window, but so far, the club has yet to secure any deals.
Despite multiple inquiries and bids for some top targets, nothing has been confirmed as of now.
Chiefs’ Transfer Troubles and Pressure on Coach Nabi
Earlier this year, Chiefs made a bold move by bringing in seven new signings to support their new coach, Nabi.
However, things haven’t gone as planned, with the club facing struggles to get their signings firing.
This has led the Tunisian coach to call for high-quality additions to strengthen the squad.
With the transfer window now open again, Chiefs are hoping to finally act on some of the rumors that have been circulating.
Chiefs’ Rejected Bid for Feisal Salum
One of the key targets that has emerged for Chiefs is Feisal Salum, an attacking midfielder from FC Azam.
The Tanzanian international has been in outstanding form, scoring 19 goals last season and already contributing 13 goals this season with four goals and nine assists.
Chiefs, along with Tanzanian rivals Simba SC, have shown interest in securing his signature for the January window.
Chiefs’ Low Offer Rejected by Azam
Initially, reports suggested that Chiefs were considering a R15 million offer for Salum.
However, on Friday, it was revealed that the club did make a bid, but it was rejected.
According to sources, the Tanzanian club is asking for a hefty R40 million for their star player.
African football journalist Micky Junior revealed that Chiefs’ actual offer was much lower, at R5.6 million, which was swiftly rejected by Azam for being too low.
Salum’s Preference for Simba and Azam’s Power in Negotiations
Reports also suggest that Salum favors a move to Simba SC over Kaizer Chiefs.
Despite this, Azam remains reluctant to sell their key player to a direct competitor.
With Salum’s contract running until June 2026, Azam still holds a strong negotiating position.
This could play a crucial role in Chiefs’ pursuit of the midfielder.
Chiefs’ Options for the Future
The next transfer window could be pivotal for Azam, Simba, Chiefs, and Salum.
If Azam doesn’t sell the player this year, Salum will be able to sign a pre-contract with any club next year, as he’ll have just one year remaining on his deal.
This could put Chiefs in a difficult position, either waiting for a potential pre-contract or trying again at the end of the season when Azam may have less leverage.
Chiefs Fans Weigh In on the Situation
Chiefs fans are now left to decide whether their club should wait for Salum to enter the final year of his contract before pursuing a pre-contract next year or whether they should make another attempt to negotiate with Azam at the end of this season when the club might be more willing to sell.
